The only reason I knew that one was because the old chap I help out three mornings a week is a big country and western fan and he plays a Johnny Cash cd which includes "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" Such a shame how he ended up but unfortunately not unknown in the country he fought for.  Hi Robin Used on ships for anti submarine warfare it fired small mortar shells which exploded on contact It was also modified for the Australians and fitted on the rear of the Matilda tanks The "Czech hedgehog" was used for anti tank defence those big cross sections of metal or wood We are more used to seeing them in war films about the D day landings those obstructions on the beach

That's good enough for me Budgie! I didn't know about the Matilda tanks, I found out that the hedgehogs were fitted over the rear deck of Sherman's and used to take out bunkers and strong points only when I came across a model of one trawling through the internet shops, but I have no doubt the Matilda would have been just as good a platform (and far less liable to spontaneously combust as well! ) Well done and over to you!
