Thanks for all your nice comments. Much appreciated.

Well fingers crossed I will be able to get the main mast finished today so can start on the mizzen mast but it will depend on how much i have to drink as its a few days of chilling out.

Ok so now hit a snag. I snapped the main topgallant mast. After coloring it it clearly showed were the break was.

I has some spare dowel so i made another one but this was a different wood to what was supplied and the coloring of it
again clearly stands out from the other parts.

As i do not think that if i use the original piece it will be strong enouth to withstand the rigging and the newer piece looks
well out of place.

Question is which wood would be the best to get to try and get the same color as i do want it to look the same.

Gents and Lady's, if there are any your ideas will be much appreciated.

Regards

Foz

Well as i not done the main mast due to my hiccup in the last post. Not got much done as no dowel for the main mast and did not nor to jump to far ahead.

So all i have been able to do is get the ships boat put in place.

Again all comments and help much appreciated.

That's a cracking good build you have there.

Hope you don't mind me asking but what have you used for the yellow/amber and blue colouring?

If it's paint it's gone on really well as you have managed to retain the look of the wood - it's really good.

Happy building

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony

Thanks for looking in and your kind words. Much appreciated.

As for the color. It was Mike's (MWG) idea, it is rowney acrylic artists ink. Small 29 mil bottles, a wee bit expensive at £5.50 for such a small bottle but it does make it look good, so thanks to Mike for the idea.

Many thanks for the update - Now that you mention it I do seem to recall Mike using inks and have to say I you have used them very well on this build. I do not think paint would have been half as good as the result you have here.

Tony

Thanks very much for your comments Bernd. This is the eaglemoss part work, the wood supplied is not that good but it gets the job done.
