I've had a play with this, you can sail your square rigged ship like a high speed motor torpedo boat even directly against the wind! Having said that I still can't complete mission 6 in the training bit!Crying

An excellent and very well done program.

Highlighted the multi-national and multi-cultural nature of the Navy in Nelsons time. But in a very matter of fact based way rather than with any kind of hidden PC agenda. A fact well known to any who study the navies of the era, but probably a bit of a surprise to the average block in the street.

The program concentrated on the Bellerephon and her part in the battle and aftermath, helped by the detailed accounts and records that survived about her actions. Very good view of the battle from the crews perspective.

Also covered the aftermath with crews trying to get the many captured prizes back to base in the teeth of the ferocious gale, and the subsequent feeling of being gutted that the sailors had when the massive haul of 19 prizes shrank to just 4 brought back to base through the storm. A prize payout so pitiful comparedto what thye could have got that even the government felt obliged to up the payout.

Well worth a watch.

Cheers
Stuntie.
