Can I ask, how did you paint the blue stripe on the frames? That looks a bit daunting to me and will appear horrible if not perfect. Hi John Thanks for looking in, the wood strips with the blue stripes on are not actually in the instructions, if you follow the mags you will end up having the 2 yellow horizontal bars in view and would then have to paint the blue on the downframes. The real victory has the horizontal frames enclosed so this is what I tried to replicate. The wood strips are 4x1mm and are cut, curved and sized before any painting is done. Then simply paint them yellow, the blue stripes are cut from plastic masking tape cut to 2mm wide and painted french blue. Stick them to the strips before fitting to the model and seal over with a matt varnish to stop them peeling. Regards Steve

Steve It's looking better and better with each update you post. You are doing a brilliant build and I am enjoying your diary. Only ever reached the rib 15 issue with mine and then stopped. However with all of these brilliant builds going on been inspired to have another go. Managed to get all of the back issues from eBay to get me the ribs and false keel so going to take it slow and see how it goes this time. Thanks for the inspiration. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Tony Thanks for your comments Tony, not sure I've ever been an inspiration before but I like the sound of it Glad you are going to have another crack at this build and I will certainly follow with interest, it really is a joy to build. Steve

Thankyou Alan, Not trying to bore you all with beakhead pics - I promise these are the last ones for a while The rest of the work is later in the build when the figurehead / rigging is done. The replacements for the missing decoration over the pillars on the beakhead wall still hasn't arrived yet so will have to wait for those. Just some small addons - the decorations are now on and the grating is also done. I also noticed while looking at the real Vic pics that the blue vertical stripes dont go all the way to the ends of the supports so I have "edited" these as well and tidied up all the joints with filler and paint touch-ups. Issue 87 next. Cheers Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

jase wrote:Look Great Steve j Thankyou Jase - One question, as you can see I have stained the beakhead grating as per the official build but looking at your detail pics just now I see that it's painted black. Do you think this could a recent thing or that it is supposed to be black? Steve

Do you think this could a recent thing or that it is supposed to be black? Steve I can not be 100% but all the other greetings where wood so i am guessing the bow ones where black. if you think about it this part of the ship got a pounding from the elements so the extra protection of paint would have made sense. Fantastic job on the beak area Steve, well done m8. Just one observation I notice that you have only fitted 2 eyebolts to the front of the knights head posts, I assume you are following the D'Ag instructions, but from studying the actual ship rigging, there should be three on each post (check post #98 on my build log for details) Perhaps D'Ag are doing something a different way or omitting something. Just wouldn't like you to get too far in and find you need to fit more when it will be harder to get to. Regards Alan England expects that every man will do his duty.
