Hi to you all, Just a quick note to let you know that as I can not do any more work on my Mozzy until the summer I've have sorted out my next small project I found the plans for a LANCASTER B1 'SPECIAL'

It has a wing span of 8'4". body length 6'. it will be powered by 4 electric motors but that will only give a flying time of around 7 min's so I might play around to see if i can put a motor in with gearing to the props to try and give a longer flying time. Air pistons to operate the under carriage. A lot of the parts are hand made but there's a lot that can be found in the modeling shops so not as much head scratching as I've had with the Mozzy.

So first thing fist is to clean up my work station and then make the jig for the body. but when it come to the wing it looks like they will be built in the lounge as the wing are built as all in one. It a good job I live on my own as any partner would object me thinks.

As soon as the jig is made I'll start to post photos so you all can see how thing progress.

Well I've started with the easy bits first. I've just made the jig for the main body for the Lanc's which is just over 6' long.

I've also stated to make the copy's of the main frame work to body and wing spars by photo copying the parts onto card and then laminate then before cutting out ready to draw around. Doing it this way makes them a lot firmer to draw around plus they can be wiped clean and used again if needed or given to anybody else that would like to try to build the Lancaster B1 when I've finished.

Hi all, Well I've done part of the tail which is made with from 1/8" and 1/16" balsa. It was a bit tricky as it all had to be made flat as you all know that working with light balsa it can twist very easily.
The front gun turret was taken out to make the Lancaster lighter so it can Carrie the large pay loud and was replaced by a dome which in this model is made from 3/8" balsa hollowed out.
the rear gun turret base is made from 1/2" balsa also hollowed out.and when the Lancaster is finished it should weigh it at around 9 LD.

Hi everyone Well it took me some time to work out how to put pic's up and that was with the help of Steveo. This Lancaster B1 will be build from plans so I try to build ever thing by hand so there is a bit of head scratching at times as I try not to buy from Hobby /craft shops if I can help.
At the moment I'm working out how to build the rear wheel Assembly as it has to be built into the rear wing and main body at the same time.
Pic's will follow soon now I now how to post them.

Hi Every body. well to keep you up to date I've reinforced the part of the body ware 2 sero's will go and some of the electrical bit will live. Also put in the reinforcing bracket were the main wing will be attache to the main body.
I've also built the rear wheel from scratch from brass which will be attached to the rudder push rod so it can be steered when it on the ground. There still a bit of tinkering to do with it but that can be sorted out when the Tail wing is fitted as I need to ever thing sit's. at the moment I've made a small frame for it so I can make sore it will fit into the main body and wing assembly.
The tail wing is my next part to build so it might be a day or so before I post pic's of the wing as it's being built.

HI All. as promised I reloaded the pic's that did not come out. the pic's are of the rear wheel all had to be made by hand but there is still a bit of work to be done but to Finnish it off which can be done when it come time to fit the wheel to the main body and tail wing.
