welcome to the build,I hope to start very soon,and will be doing the build in a tutorial format, in case any of our friends across the pond(u.s.a.) would like to try it,as it is an american kit.

I have to say that the plans and instructions are both precise and clear,and the laser cutting very accurate,I am using superglue gel, as I had trouble trying to get balsa cement. so I tested the glue on some scrap and worked very well, the superglue gel dried much quicker on balsa,so be careful if you use it.it is going together nicely.

Certainly takes me well back too...Nice one Karl..The materials still look very delicate...I will be eagerly following your progress mate!!

I am going to enjoy this. I have never built one of these but I recal my Dad did. we took it to the school feild wound up the elastic band and flew it into a tree I think my Dad binned it the same day

A very nice start to what looks like to be quite flimsy until the covering goes on, great stuff
Kiel-craft, Guillows rubber, jetex and free flight diesels from Davis Charlton , balsa cement had its own aroma like dope,tissue and diesel fuel and all had a certain addiction and yh most crashed pretty quickly or just didn't fly at all,well into the ground anyways
I always remember a jetex model Vampire consuming itself on its 1st launch as the heat from the motor set the dope, tissue covering and balsa aflame, I was horified but at the same time rolling about with laughter as it disappeared under its own vialition.

Looks good Karl, I built a Hawker Hart as a balsa display kit once, but that was one where you had the pieces printed on the balsa and had to cut out all the spar notches too not fun at all.
Watching this one all the way.

Hope all is well with you.

Brilliant that you have picked something like this as it brings back so many memories for me.

I remember many years back (must have been about 8 at the time) sitting with my dad building a band powered spitfire. In them days you had to cut out each piece including the delicate little squares that the stringers were glued into.

I seem to remember in those days your craft knife was that little orange thing that if you applied too much pressure to used to break. And it usually did as you only ever had the 2 blades it came with and with these going blunt a bit of extra brute force was the only way of getting it to cut.

Anyhow we pressed on to having the body and wings made but not fixed together when one day I shoved it in my school bag to show off at school. Needless to say when I got there the model was in more than 2 pieces.

Cannot remember my dad ever getting angry about it but guess he was disappointed I had done something like this.

So in the end we never got to use the tissue glue from humbrol nor that wonderful dope that would have you paint it on, let it dry then spray with water I seem to remember to shrink it.

Things have moved on over the years but I do always remember the warning that dope shrinking can warp parts.

Sure your on top of all that.
