Hi All!
I start building Imperial Japan Navy battle ship NAGATO(長門).

A kit is from AOSHIMA Corp., and photo etching parts and wooden seals are from FUJIMIt Corp.

You may find a strange girl is printed on the kit's box.Blushing She is called a fleet girl. Her name is NAGATO.

Japanese modelers' situation is changed recently.

A network computer game has become so popular that many young persons are interested in IJN warships.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kantai_Collection

Although I do not have any relations with the game (I'm too old), the fleet girl happened to be printed on the kit that I had ordered.Scared

Since the contents of the kit are almost normal, I felt relieved.

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi Andy!
Thank you for posting a comment. This is my 3rd trial of NAGATO building. Since the Yamato and the MUSASHI were top secret back then, the NAGATO was the most popular battle ship in Japan.

Hi All

The first step of building the NAGATO was opening the windows. 0.6mm mini-drill opened all the windows on the hull wall. (No.1,2)

A Deck part was glued on the hull. It had been cureed for several days. (No.3)

Metal weights were glued on the floor part and painted in brown. (No.4,5)

Molds on the deck ,where the wooden seals will be attached, were removed. They will be painted in IJN gray and re-attached on the same points. (No.6,7,8)

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Yutaro-sama,

This is an amazing job. I don't think I have ever seen someone do this much work on a 1/700 waterline model and you have just started! In fact I don't think I could name one that would do the same work on a 1/350 scale vessel.

Truly impressive and thank you for sharing this with us.

Adrie.

Hi Adrie!
Thank you for your looking and posting the comment on my diary.

Although 1/700 models are severe, I like them very much. There are a lot of 1/700 modelers in Japan.

I hope you will enjoy this diary.

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi Alan
Thank you for your comment on my postings.

In Japan there are a lot of 1/700 builders, and we can refer to several manuals or know-how books. Some day they may be translated in English.

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi All!
I post the next progress.

Parts related to wooden-deck seals were painted in KURE-gray.(No.1,2) This Kure(呉) gray color is the same color of the battle ship YAMATO.

The seals were attached on the decks and the removed molds were relocated. (No.3,4)

Works of wooden seals was finished. (No.5,6)

The flight deck was linoleum flooring. The rails and turn tables will be exchanged to etching parts.

Before removing the molds, I took a copy of the deck. (No.7)

I was afraid that I might lost the locations of the molds.

I removed the molds and painted the flight deck parts in KURE-gray at first. (No.8.9)

Best Regards,
Yutaro

Hi All

Weekday's progress is like turtle's steps.Crying

I attched 0.2mm brass rods on the flight deck parts.

I avoided the places where removed molds will be re-located on.

The deck floor was painted in linoleum color.

I have to wait for curing of the paint.

Best Regards,
Yutaro
