Hi Robert.
Looking good.
The Sapele is like the Mahogany on my san francisco 2, To get it to bend easily I left the plank in boiling water for a couple of minutes, then if you have an elecy plank bender get the bend with that, if you don't have one I used my wife's iron to do it. It works a treat and saves on breakages of the wood. ( the ends with a major bend like the first 2 planks at the rear just soak for 15 minutes will allow you to bend and twist them..
Hope you don't think I'm interfering..

Cheers Chris..

Looking at all of the pictures here are the planks supplied in one long length to go from stem to stern or are they shorter lengths please?

Only asking because I am not sure when I eventually get mine what to use to soak them in. Not sure a washing up bowl would be large enough. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Magpie m8 Nine of them are damaged at one end and damaged in the middle, and they all have the exact same damage. will post pics on here a bit later on.

PS could use them for infills if you know what I mean, but that's not the point.

Hi When I pin the Sapele planks to the Hull I blunt the sharp end with a file so that the pin tears though the wood that way the pin does not go between the grain and split the wood, (works for me) But be careful at the the but ends of the planks they will split there.

Try it on a spear piece!

Unusual not to have locating holes or pins, but may be they are intended to be glued to the display base with such as epoxy, though if it were me, I would drill the base and into the pedestals, then secure with a self-tapper and glue.
