Sorry for size of pic having trouble with resizing. This is my solution for plank soaking anyway it works for me. Went to wicks got a lengh of gutting the square kind for stability, two ends bits and some sealent. Cut guttering to size in this 24inchs and attached ends and sealed with sealent. Works like a dream only needs topping up every so often with hot water. Pam's shipyard is closed for now no more room!

Hi All...
Another way is get 450mm of kitchen waste pipe(35mm) and a screw on blank for the bottom. use the u clips on side of bench with the pipe clamped on. fill her up when cold unscrew the bottom drain away in bucket....
On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Got to be honest the only planking job I've done so far is on my HMS Bounty Jolly boat, which I just about finish (pictures to follow later today), which I didn't soak the planks just bent them using and electric bender and kept fingers crossed Anyway, if you wanted to free up the work space taken by your guttering then you buy a couple of brackets to go with it and stick up on the wall

Good idea Jamie, also it could be made smaller to save space as this one is 24 ins. Was'nt sure when I put it together how long Vics planks would be. Pam's shipyard is closed for now no more room!

I just use a shallow baking tray from the kitchen. It doesn't even need to be non-stick

Hi I think I've got the most sophisticated and technically advanced, very specialized device to soak the planks. Here it is: As you can see it is plastic bag, in which the planks arrived, very precisely cut 2cm shorter then planks, and pinned with high precision to my work table. Then you have fill it with water exactly on room temperature, and that is. This device hold about 8-10 planks at once. Prem Dyner

When I was planking my Endeavour, I broke quite a few, so ended up sticking some in the dish washer and running them through a cycle. When they came out, they were nice and pliable. Un-orthodox, but worked Part time modeller, full time biker
Built: Pinta Belle Poule (plastic) Endeavour Scratch build of Pirate ship "Neptune" (Based on cutter "HMS Aldebaran" Current builds: Victory

Pint glass works perfectly - and I can keep my cider in it while I'm not bending planks - multi-purpose You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Perhaps the water was way too hot. Now on the Mk. 2 trough with cold water ok. ArtfulBodger Previous Build: HMS. Bounty

I did the same i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.
