Hi well got this through post today.looks good kit.apart from 2 coils of 1.5 dia brass wire wound up into coils, not gonna try straitening that.so be replaced. Made small start on benches. They were fairly loose in slots so used front of benches to keep all in line an square , while they set.cheers and happy moddelling mick. BigGrin BigGrin

Hi small update benches and start of floor planking.using the 1mm wire out of kit to get floor spacing accurate.instructions would have you start from one side.but me do center plank first.to avoid what might be narrow, or uneven width outer planks.as regard colours the paper decals themselves are lot more red brown than the box artwork.I went to Diy store got them scanned and got test pots of silk emulsion made up.as the paper itself only slight sheen to it.as me has to paint by brush anyway, might be as near as can get.doin test pieces to see first.even the cream is hard to match as well.oh well see how goes.cheers and happy moddelling mick. Hi all another small update on progress or lack of it.BigGrin varnished and finished stained decoration to benches, the is extra strip fitted to top of benches not mentioned in the instructions. This is to fill the unsightly gap between benches and side walls.just sand top of benches to a level that keeps this just below the large windows.or ya have it seen through windows so double check.as regards the windows as can be seen in pic there is a lousy gap between windows and frames. In my case 1/32. So I have had to line all the top windows.and end cab windows with 1/32 ply.the door and large windows have no supplied frame, they seem to think can glue windows in with no support.I think this lousy idea and will look a mess.so gonna have to make me own from quarter round plastic strips.so this kit has a few issues to attend to.don't get me wrong I'm enjoying this very much.and kinda like the problem solving.cheers and happy moddelling mick. Mick

Glad to see your still smiling and seeing it as a challenge that can be solved.

I have had a few similar issues with my revenge kit which have found a fix and hopefully will postcagain the weekend.

And similar issues with the Adler loco pwhich is now consigned to the "i'll get around to it one day" box.

Keep at it because i have to say the kit looks brilliant when complete. They just need to tighten up on their dimensions a little better.

Not sure if you have sorted your paint matches but might be worth looking at the humbrol loco acyrlics range as i am sure they do a maroon that might be a good match.

Hi well it coming along a bit, sorted me windows out the doors are done with 0.75 mm quarter round plastic strip both sides.window trapped in between. Because I thinned my doors down by o.25mm to make sure they slide, used thinner acetate for windows, than supplied in the kit.the sides I decided to paint cream.because varnished ply won't match the ends which are veneered ply. Used 1.0mm quarter round for these.as no frames for large windows supplied in kit.time consuming and fiddly job, but end result worth it.only done inside frame for now as outside will require filling and painting.started the risers on the stairs.put the little bracket in first, as it leaves shallow recess that requires filling.as the curved bit on top does not cover this.the instructions would have you put bracket in after this curved bit been added.this would make filling and sanding very difficult.cheers and happy moddelling mick. Hi well got the ends on and one side wall.keep finding fit issues this time with slots out of position on roof, as have been using this to keep all square, with sides an ends.ill highlight roof problems when I come to build this up.just to say if ya glue framework on underside of in slots provided, ya got no chance of getting it on.be aware there are loads of tab slots that need filling.if ya do it in order of instructions. These will end up virtually impossible to fill.ya need to check the fit of everything.so this a kit that keeps ya on ya toes.(geesh) a tip remove all hammers from ya work bench before ya do owt.cause there are times ya tempted to bash the he'll out of it.Flapper.it will make a nice model when done though.cheers and happy moddelling mick.
