Sorry to hijack your thread for this but I can't see the thread for 2016 build. Assuming I get the other hull half (and I could build it in a year, big ask I think)would I be able to add the Soliel Royal as mine (I didn't start it till after Christmas and even then I've only primed a few bits. Ken's the name modeling's the game.

That's a build we don't see very often on here Derek. A good choice for 'build of the year'. It'll be a treat to see her coming together. I'll definitely be following this build. Happy building David

Nice choice Derek. Being I live on the Mississippi River here in Minnesota we still have paddle boats here. They are all modernized with diesel engines and such but you still get the feeling of going back in time when these were the preferred mode of transport up and down the river. Looking forward to your build. I cant tell is this a plastic model or a wooden build? Ron Bonus points if you can get a picture of a squirrel water skiing behind it... I joke... love watching your builds and good luck in the competition. Best Regards, Ron

My first ever venture into RC. The kit is mostly wood with some plastic mouldings. The hull is all wood. Thanks to all for looking in. Hi All, Firstly, thanks to all above for looking in. Time to do a bit of prep work: This kit builds up to 48" in length with a beam of 10", but luckily I already have a work board of sufficient size to accommodate this build (59" x 19"). Some initial markings are required on the board to set up the build jig (these are clearly explained in the instructions)and are shown in the second picture. The third pic shows the box of parts. The plywood jig and forward keel parts are pressed out of the plywood panels, not laser cut like I`m used to . There are four jig sections and two forward keel parts. (Pic 4). These will be glued together in their respective pairs and clamped until set. (More on that later) The final pic for today shows the forward keel and jig sections laid on the board to show the length of this build. Next update will be "Setting the jig and the start of construction". Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Middle of Feb and just the hint of a start on the Creole Queen. Been doing an awful lot of reading and re-reading on this before starting, as this is a first for me. (RC, needs to float and move) I prepared the build board as shown earlier. Accuracy here is paramount as the hull stays in the jig through fitting of the ribs, chines, stringers, sheers, forward and rear keel sections and plating. So to start: Two jig sections are produced from four plywood pieces and the forward keel from two plywood pieces, shown in the first pic. First time I`ve used a workmate as a clamp for a model and still had to extend the clamp with mahogany strips and numerous other clamps.(See next three pics) Note: After 24 hours clamped the jig sections still had a slight curvature, but will show in the next update how I intend to get over this issue. The instructions now tell you to dry fit the jig, ribs, keels, chines and sheers on your base board. So the following pics are as follows: First: 2 jigs, 14 ribs and forward keel. Second: Indicated, the centre keel extension and outer chines. (Sheers in place but not fully visible) Third: The sheers can be seen better in this pic and will be raised to the outer edges of the ribs indicated by the red arrows. Fourth and fifth pics show bow and stern respectively. In the bow picture you will see the line of the chines (marked in red) that need to be extended (more on that next update). That`s it for this update, next update will be finishing the jig and out comes the glue. delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
