Hello everyone, Well, here's the start of another HMS Victory diary. I pondered whether I wanted to do the painted or natural finish....after a lot of internal debate, I decided to do the painted version as I wanted it to look as close to the original as possible. I do plan on using the copper plates eventually for the hull and am hoping I can pull off a patina weathered look when all is done. I work full-time so this will be a slow process. Anyways, this is all I have done so far......always looking for comments, tips, advice, etc etc. Cheers, Chris queenc attached the following image(s):

Welcome to Modelspace Chris, Im sure you will enjoy the Vic, dont worry about how long it takes you just take your time. It looks as if the wheels on your gun carriage are on the wrong axle, the front wheels should be the larger one..unless the pic is just making it look that way  Nice start though and keep the pics coming! Thanks for all the warm welcomes, I can already see that the support on this forum will help me see this kit to completion. I managed to finish a bit more work today, I am interested in comments/suggestions as to whether I should fill in the front frames with Balsa. I have noticed others doing this and seems to be a great technique. Also, if this is a good tip then why not continue down the entire model? As you can see in one of my pictures, I have a great painting in the background to give me motivation when things get frustrating queenc attached the following image(s):

Hi Chris most people only fill the bow and sometimes the stern with balsa fillers as it helps with the complex curve of the bow as the planks tend to dip into the gaps if not carful. There is nothing stopping you filling the whole thing but it isn't really necessary plus it saves you money hope this helps Happy building rgd Martyn Building ?

Put the great advice to work and "blocked in" the balsa for the bow.(thanks again Martyn) This is just very rough of course with a lot of fairing to come. Also, started the framing on the launch. Planking this little guy scares me as the planks are so thin and delicate.......stand by for possible disaster  queenc attached the following image(s):

Hey Chris, Your build is looking great so far. I am at a similar point on my SOTS build. I was nervous about the launch planking as well, but it wasn't too bad once I got started .
