Hi Ian! Cool

You have been busy, I think you have jumped the gun a little by staining and varnishing more than you should. The gallery isn't finished yet the glazing and trims are still to do. I would wait until the magazines say to varnish a section then it will be safe to do so and if you find that's not the case then you can blame them.

I will say the ship is looking good mate!

Hi SOB,

Would love to agree, but the fact i am not getting enough information regarding the type of wood as this leaves me to decide on the staining because i can not stain once the wood has been contacted, to other parts of the assembly.

I still find this new adventer very enlightening.

regards,
Ian

Hi Ian! Cool

I know what you mean lack of information is a problem but the magazine does tell you when to stain e.g. the wales are stained before finally being fixed. My point was that the gallery isn't finished yet the trims need to be added you could find it hard to get the glue to stick because of the stain and varnish. The gallery as it stands is the support structure glazing and trims go onto of this structure and it is these trims that will be stained,

To .. SoB.

Hi Darren,

Many thanks for the input, it looks like i will be doing a lot of scraping off, all the varnish.
this is the first time i have ever done anything like this and the learning curve is very sharp, but enjoyable.

Best regards,
Ian
