Kelly's Heroes is a 1970 war comedy movie about a aquad of World War II American soldiers who go AWOL in France after hearing about a secrret stash of German gold in a Bank deep behind enemy lines. Unappreciated by their clueless, profiteering captain and continually denied any chance at decent rest and recreation they are ripe for the promise of heroic adventure and enthusiastically embark on their new, unauthorized mission. With the help of Sherman tank commander Oddball and his squad of misfits, an incompetent artillery officer, a greedy supply officer, a marching band, and a grave digger battalion, they stand to make a fortune.
The movie was a US-Yugoslav co-production, filmed mainly in the Croat village of Vižinada on the Istria peninsula.

The three Tiger I tanks used in the film were actually ex-Soviet Army T-34 tanks, converted by specialists of the Yugoslav army for the 1969 movie Battle of Neretva.
Oddball's Sherman's are Yugoslav Army M4 A3E4 Sherman's (post war US upgraded to a 76mm gun barrel in the original 75mm turret) and a .50 cal machine gun, plus the infamous loudspeaker set onto the turret side.

This is going to be fun, Kelly's Heroes is my goto chuckle film, Oddball is so laid back he is horizontal, and the rest of the motley bunch just add up to grins all round.  
This is a chance to recreate one of the most famous Sherman's ever to roll on screen and I will be building in 1:48 scale using the Hobbyboss M4A3 and loads of upgrades, PE set, barrel, .50cal upgrade, stowage, and of course a loud speaker! A full compliment of figures and custom decals. I will post some pictures up as the kit arrives!

Looks to be a fun build in the making. Brilliant film and i especially liked that song they used called "burning bridges" (mike curb congregation if memory serves). Hope this all goes well and look forward to seeing your take on this one. Happy Modelling
