Hi All, Well after the success of the Bedford HA van, which was greatly received by Brian Morgan, i have been asked to build another model for him by his daughter Rachel. Rachel is getting wed in October and wants to give her Dad a model of an MG TD [1955]. Brian owns one of these superb 1950's roadsters and I'm sure he will be as equally flattered and surprised when he receives a model of the very car he owns. With that in my mind, he will be the proud owner of two 1/43 models; the Bedford HA van and now the MG TD, both miniature replicas of his own vehicles. I have a feeling this won't be the last model I build him as he also owns a pristine 1972 Ford RS2000 and a mint Vauxhall Nova, so watch this space. I don't have long to build the MG TD as my deadline for completion is Tuesday 3rd October! Fortunately, I have already spent some time last Sunday [6 hours] prepping the white metal parts supplied by K&R Replicas; a very detailed and well made kit. So, fingers crossed, i will finish it in time. More updates to follow soon. Regards, Phil W. Completed projects: 1/43 scale Bedford HA van / 1/43 scale MG TD sports car Current projects: 1/48 scale U-boat [U230] Future projects: 1/148 scale railway diorama / 1/50 scale R/C Volvo F89 logging truck / 1/148 scale Thunderbirds Fireflash

Regards Alan Hi Alan, thanks for looking in! The great thing about these small, white metal kits is that once the prep is complete the build comes together quite quickly. It also makes for a nice change and acts as 'palette cleanser' from working on the U-boat all the time. Regards, Phil W. Hi All, I completed this build last week as it's being presented to Brian at his daughter's wedding tomorrow. His eldest daughter is going to email some photos when he opens the box. I can't wait to see his face! So, the following updates are all retrospective, due to time constraints and riveting my U-boat! There's a few photos, so I will break it down into 3 or 4 threads, posted over the course of the week. After prepping all the bodywork, i painted all the parts in genuine MG tartan red primer. This is a matt paint which takes on the gloss when lacquered with varnish. Problem was the matt primer dried unevenly and after several coats some areas were matt and some semi-gloss. . To that end i had to come up with a plan b and quickly as time was running out and faffing around waiting for the primer to dry inbetween coats cost me two evenings! Plan b took the form of Tamiya gloss Italian red, of which i happened to have a can in the spares box. Turned out to be very similar to the tartan red. Happy days. So, all the parts were then sprayed with two coats of this. The attached photo shows the main body painted and the running boards picked out in silver, bordered with matt black. Sticky Wickett attached the following image(s): Completed projects: 1/43 scale Bedford HA van / 1/43 scale MG TD sports car Current projects: 1/48 scale U-boat [U230] Future projects: 1/148 scale railway diorama / 1/50 scale R/C Volvo F89 logging truck / 1/148 scale Thunderbirds Fireflash
