Hi everyone, After years of procrastinating, I have finally gotten around to assembling my Mclaren 4/4. I really like this car and didn't (don't) want to mess it up. I haven't made a model in 25 years or so, so I was a bit nervous of my ability to not screw it up, so I built a couple of Tamiya 1:20 scale F1 cars to practice. Anyway, here goes... Pack 1 went well and was pretty straight forward. However Pack 2, which should have been straight forward, I somehow managed to mess up. For some reason I had trouble with the end-plate screws. I didn't anticipate they'd be an issue, but apparently in my ham-fistedness, I stripped one. I eventually got it sorted, but I hope going forward I don't mess it up. Here it is so far...

Good luck with your build, Mandan. looking forward to seeing the progress. May I suggest that you reduce the size of the posted images to about 200kb. Then they will display within the post. Malc.

Hi, Your off to a great start and congrats on your "Blue" medal for starting a build diary. To get your pics to show rather than be downloads edit them so the picture width is 650 pixels. If you are unsure of how to do this just follow the link below: http://forum.model-space....aspx?g=posts&t=244
Hope to see more of your build soon. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Everyone, Thanks for the tips on the photos. I'll try to do better, I promise! I'm at Pack 5, and since i want the original look, I got the Marlboro decals from Hiroboy and I felt like it was probably a good idea to put the rear wing decals on before assembly. So that's what I did. I was worried about the alignment of the logo on the two pieces. When I cut out the decal from the sheet, I realized it was actually in four parts, since the wing mounts in the center. To make sure it aligned correctly, I taped the two wing pieces to a ruler at a perpendicular angle so I could see it was straight and lined up. I think it worked well. I have a friend who builds excellent slot cars and does fabulous decal work, so I asked him for advice. Based on his feedback, I used Walthers Solvaset on the the decals to get them to conform and set. I must say, they look better than I expected. Once i put the Marlboro logo on the bottom of the wing, i think i'll use the Future to clear-coat it. Anyway, here's what it looks like now... I always appreciate tips and feedback! Thanks, Dan ManDan attached the following image(s):
