An introduction: It seems like an age ago now but at the beginning of March just before lockdown someone posted that their brother had sadly passed away leaving a half built hms victory. He very generously offered to give it away to a local forum member who could collect it .As I always wanted this kit but could never really afford it I gratefully accepted. The original builder was a member of this forum and had a build log on here but i do not feel that it is my place to announce someone's passing. I did not take any pics of the hull at the time ,all I will say is there was a very pronounced twist to the hull and was double planked . I felt the only way to get rid of the twist was to strip it all back salvage what I could and start again .After soaking the whole thing in a bath of warm water for an hour and a few hours stripping it down I ended up with a pile of plywood and timber I then spent a few months cleaning up parts and getting together supplies to start again . Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Well done for supporting someone who needed help and congratulations on managing to salvage a beautiful kit from disaster, with the warping. Look forward to seeing a build diary of your own once you get organised. Chris.

This is where I am at the moment after cleaning up the frames, assembling the skeleton of the ship and a few months spent planking with new Limewood strips from Cornwall model boats. I didn't keep a record of this process as there are plenty of excellent diaries covering this on the forum already.I do intend to make some changes to the kit and will go into more detail covering these. Looking forward to seeing you work on this one. Came in before you had posted all the pictures (sorry) so just looking at your others and must say you have made a lovely job on the planking. Being “nosey” :-) just wanted to say how nice your garden looks. You seem to have a lovely pond off to the corner of that picture. I am going to bookmark your build as i can see it being very interesting so i do not want to miss any of your updates. Tony Happy Modelling

Thanks for looking and commenting much appreciated. So after finally finishing the hull planking a i have started lining the gun ports ,one side is complete for now . I will be lining the 10 gun ports that are fitted with guns after I have fitted the inner planks and the uppermost gun ports will be cut after the deck has been laid to make sure the guns fit . nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

That all looks so heat and tidy. Your gunport linings are excellent and fit the spaces so well. Tony Happy Modelling

Firstly I must apologise for not keeping this diary up to date but have been really busy at work , no furlough for me. I have been building out of sequence as I wanted to fit the gun port linings to the open gun deck after the inner bulwarks were planked . I also started work on the gratings which I also did slightly different to the instructions. I have also fitted the whales but am waiting for some decent weather so i can take some better pics outside. nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!

Finally had some better weather the weekend so I have taken some outdoor pics . Inner bulkheads painted ,the beak reinforcements added and whales fitted. The upper mouldings were made with the Scriber tool brought from woodysmodelworks on eBay . nightwisher attached the following image(s): Man he took his time in the sun Had a dream to understand A single grain of sand He gave birth to poetry But one day will cease to be Greet the last light of the library...We were here!
