Added some of the alloy parts to the chassis. Lots more work still needed with the remaining parts.

Finally added the rest of the alloy parts to the Escort. First up is an underside view showing the suspension arms that were added.  A view of the car with the body in place.

Looking really nice. I have the DeAgostini Huracan in my 'to do' pile but I've always wondered why R/C cars have those 4 horrible poles for attaching the body. The really spoil the look for me. You'd think someone could come up with something better?

I have seen something that uses magnets, but not sure which bodies / chassis it will fit on to!

That's a nice kit. really like the Alloy "hop-up" parts. Now for the fun of painting the body on the inside .
The 4 posts are for quick release if you're gonna be racing it. I guess for a display model just cut the posts down and fit magnets.

Looking good Anthony, love those metallic blue suspension wishbones.
I'll be interested to see what scheme you come up when it's time to paint that bodyshell? I believe that when you paint these polycarbonate bodyshells they are usually sprayed from the inside after applying any decals/stickers first? A bit like the technique for painting pictures on glass where everything is painted on the reverse side with the small details applied first?

If you use any stickers they would go on the outside of the body, after all the painting is finished and the protective layer has been removed from outside of the body.
I am thinking of brush painting the areas that look like grills or something on the hood and as for colour a possible combination might be starting with a thin transparent blue layer, followed by silver for the main colour.
My first Tamiya r/c car was the Falcon buggy from 30 years ago, (it still runs after sitting in a cupboard doing nothing for all that time). I brush painted the body black and it had stickers added to the outside.

Painting is the one bit I don't like doing, also as far as I know, noone here in Canberra actually sells paint for Tamiya polycarbonate body shells, so it would have to be ordered from either Sydney or Melbourne and be sent to Canberra via horrendously expensive road freight, airlines won't touch spray cans as they are dangerous goods!!!

New wheels for the Escort. They are slightly smaller in diameter than the other ones, but as I built the car with high ground clearence it is not a problem.
