I've always just stuck to partwork models so fancied having a bash at something a little more challenging so here we go with this. Steve279021 attached the following image(s): Senna mclaren mp4/4 build complete mp4/4 build http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=12029

A little dot of poly cement and put the parts together again laying on a flat surface. Once dry it should be fine. I've done it before and it works.

I've tried that twice and it doesn't seem to be strong enough. I was using tamiya cement. Would some ca instant be better? Senna mclaren mp4/4 build complete mp4/4 build http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=12029

Hello Steve,
I think the best course of action for a solid repair would be to obtain a short length of metal rod such as brass or similar, drill a hole of the same diameter as the rod in the end of each half of the steering link then insert and glue the rod to connect the two halves using a good strong glue such as a two part '5 minute' epoxy? Clean the area around the joint with some white spirit or similar to remove excess glue BEFORE it dries, and then leave well alone until set. A bit of touch-up painting around the joint and no-one will ever know it was repaired?!
Glue alone will always give a weak joint, it's always best to glue AND pin in my experience. I had this kit years ago and it's a nice model when finished, so keep going and I'll look forward to following your build with interest!
Hope that helps?
Kev

Cheers Kev. I have used a bit of ca and it seems to be holding🤞. Tbf, this build is more about learning as I've said before, I have only done partworks before so this is much more of a challenge Senna mclaren mp4/4 build complete mp4/4 build http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=12029

Making nice progress with this already Steve and looking good! How are you finding your first injection moulded plastic kit? Fun I hope, even if it's a bit of an adventure into unknown territory given that you've always done part-work builds prior to this one?
I think you're making a good job Steve, keep it up and keep posting those updates!

Cheers kev, it's definitely more of a challenge and I have broken a couple of parts. I am enjoying the painting side of doing a plastic kit. Also I've just started the engine which I'm finding quite relaxing whereas the front chassis at times got a bit stressful. But I am learning as I go.
