Hi Mike and shipmate! In Japan DeAGOSTINI Japan starts a part work of HMS VICTORY from this week. I have bought the first issue and report about it here. #1 A cover of the first issue #2 Parts of bow frames and 12 pond cannon are included #3 Free gift , a magnifying glass with grips is the same as UK #4 DVD for start up is also included in this issue #5 This is a navigator character of this voyage. He supports the Japanese builders every week and has a building diary(!) in the official website. His name is Thomas. I think he is a Tomic in Japan but I don't know what ranking he has. (If Mr.Tomic has any comments about Mr.Thomas, I shall introduce them to Japanese builders.) I shall try making 12 pond cannon in this week end. Best Regards, Yutaro Yutaro HONMA attached the following image(s): DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Yutaro, He looks a cutie, but I'm afraid he has no connection with me. My understanding of Japanese is about as good as my understanding of Chinese other than when ordering takeaway food

Hi all! Thank you very much for giving me a comment, Mr.Tomic! I shall put it on my website and blog. I guess someone has noticed that "Thomas" is named after Sir Thomas Slade (1703/4 - 1771). He was an English naval architect, most famous for designing HMS Victory. This is the reason why DeAGOSTINI Japan selected this name for the navigator. If you want to see his activity as the building daiary blog, please refer to URL below. http://blog.deagostini.jp/hms/

Hi all! Thank you for comments, Karl and Dontshootme! Since I think Japanese letters are not familiar in UK, I translate the DeAGOSTINI Japan's cover page of Mr. Thomas. 1. I will support your building the VICTORY till it will be completed. 2. The craft master, Mr. Thomas's building logbook 3. From my original view point, I will introduce the main point in each issue and teach you using movies. 4. Mr. Thomas, a craft master, He is a master of building every models and knows every thing about models. His model is Sir Thomas Slade who was an English naval craft man and concerned with building the VICTORY. Hi shipmates! I am very glad to read your warm comments to Mr.Thomas. Thank you all! This time I try making a 12 pond cannon in 1st issue. This is my first experiment to make such a model, I have found it is very fun. I made it for natural color version of the VICTORY. #1 Replace a smaller ring to original one of the cannon part. #2 Add enhancement to wheels and other brass parts according to the cannon's plan, which is descried in the magazine of the issue. #3 Repaint the cannon #4 Paint the base in wooden color and add "soot" #5 Attach rings made of 0.3mm brass wire #6 Attach a small mount of "stain" #7 Mr.Thomas checks the result #8 This is a annex DVD of the 1st issue. #9 When I watched the DVD, I found this person in the video. I guess he may be a UK's actor. I wonder someone knows who he is? Best Regards, Yutaro. Yutaro HONMA attached the following image(s): DeAGOSTINI 1/250 the YAMATO, 1/250 the AKAGI. Hi Mike! The 2nd issue has distributed in Japan. The issue concludes the parts in the attached pic. Mr.Thomas's lecture is renewed in the URL below. http://blog.deagostini.jp/hms/727
Some Japanese builders discuss about this ModelSpace forum on the web in Japan. They may refer to the builder's diaries in UK. hi yutaro glad you are happy with the victory, are you going to paint your model in the victory colours?deagostini do a paint set here, are they doing the same in japan? there are many builds on this site of the victory,if your friends in japan are going to study our builds I would like to recommend this one for the unpainted finish. http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=1060
it does point out the errors in the build and how to overcome them.there are many painted version here as well,so take your time and trawl through them.
