I've got a spare front wing that I picked up cheap on eBay so i decided to use it as a test to see how the clear coat I've got will looked when sprayed on Will post pics shortly CURRENT BUILDS

Be careful what type of clearcoat you use, because the Mr Hobby B501 gloss aerosol shown is an aqueous type, which Tamiya aerosols are not, though Tamiya's X22 clear gloss pot version is aqueous and can be airbrushed/sprayed or brushed.
The Tamiya aerosol may work, but I would apply in very light coats allowing it to dry between to prevent solvent build-up and it eating into the silver paint/printed livery etc.

I think it looks really good. I'm just in the middle ov putting the front wing together then I will put it next to the other standard wing and post the pic CURRENT BUILDS

I don't know if this the solution but I'm seriously considering doing the whole lot when it's finish cause I think it looks really good and as long as u take ur time and dont spray too much too quick it will be fine. I haven't got the side pods yet they r in my next issues that turn up but when there do il stick up a pic. CURRENT BUILDS

I think I might spray the underside of the Wong as well to give it a shiny carbon effect il post the pics after CURRENT BUILDS

I must admit it does look pretty good. Doesn't look like it makes a difference on the silver in the pictures but the red definately comes up good.
Not too sure i want to be spraying the model incase i mess up and ruin it!

The only real difference it makes is added protection and a tiny bit shinier. Also be a lot easier to clean when it gets dusty. CURRENT BUILDS

Underside clear coated   Not made much difference but it's abit shinier so it dose look better. Don't matter much as u won't see it under the car lol CURRENT BUILDS

I done a very thin coat every 15-20 mins. Total of 5 coats CURRENT BUILDS

Presumably this is the same silver as the rest. Also way back I ordered a spare front wing and coated it in "Klear" as yet it does not show any signs of deterioration. As an aside it does not solve the colour differnce mentioned elsewhere. After the Klear had dried I just polished it with a spectacle cleaning cloth and then assembled. Just note I only post this in the hope it may offer some clues. Work on the assumption I am not always right and I could be wrong again!!!!!

Nobody is wrong - just diferent. Thanks for the info though. I've used Halfords clear lacquer on a spare front wing (pics posted elsewhere on the forum) and it works a treat - nice and glossy. Roy.
