After a lot of thinking and some thumbs up from members who have encouraged me to go ahead, I have decided to do an MP4-23 in the MP4-6 Livery with full Sponsorship. This is a Tribute to the great man himself and what the cars of today may have looked like if he was still with us and McLaren kept the famous Marly paint Scheme.. So enjoy and any comments are more than welcome.. Spence Warthog attached the following image(s):

Here is an Update of how I have been getting along with this one.. I have removed some of the fairing and vents from the top cowling to give it a more "streamlined" look to it. There is still a fair amount of filling to do so that the whole cockpit/body is one piece.. Comments welcome as usual Spence Warthog attached the following image(s):

Some more pictures of the progress today.. The black and white is just a test at the moment and I think I need to take the white further back into the intakes.. Enjoy and any comments/ideas welcome Spence Warthog attached the following image(s):

Cheers Guy's Heinzy is doing the same sort of thing but he's doing a lot more than me when it comes down to the wings etc.. be nice to see his finished build.. mines more of an "update" rather than a full conversion but still a lot of chopping to do etc.. Spence

Great work as usual, looking amazing! The sides look so much better without the "wings" dont they Don't hold your breathe with mine being done any time soon, not getting to spend the hours needed really!! Just a couple of questions though, What white have you gone for? I have gone with Ford Diamond White out of Halfords, but not applied yet obviously! Your's looks like it'll have a nice finish once "kleared" Also, how are you planning on making the side pod filler piece for the other side? or was you not! Oh and you've got to slick the tires too, they come out amazing Cheers

The white is just the Zero paints Primer.. the White I will be using is "Appliance White" from Halfords... looks much nicer for this one. Only the one side pod filler, remember this is a "What if" Tribute so it's not a copy of anything and it will keep the grooves on the tyres too.. Don't like the smell of burning rubber in the morning, brings back bad memories which my Ex will lay testament to.. (thats if she hadn't gone up in flames)

Yeah I had looked at that appliance white, but when I saw the ford diamond white I went for that, might just do a sample patch of a few different whites, see which one shines I remember it's just a what if, but I know you and I know you will still end up making some amendments! I know what you mean about the rubber too, I think my wife would leave me If I wasn't doing it out in the garage, and I still have 2 tires to go It is looking good though fella, how comes you've filled in the end where the nose cone connects?

Nose cone has been reshaped to bring the front wings up a bit.. filler added and reformed to blend in.. A coat of primer tonight to show up any little bits that need filling again.. Pictures below are using the original so you can see the difference. Warthog attached the following image(s):
