I've had the huge Revell E Type for a few years and recently decided to build it as a Group 44 Tullius 'might-have-been'.
I've always liked the white/two tone green colour scheme of those cars so a fair bit of artistic licence will be applied.
I've added a lot of the missing wiring/plumbing/brake lines and I've made my own decals.
A nice big model to work on - I might try to chase another one from 'Ebie' at some time and build it as a roadster using the resin conversion rear-end that's (expensively!) available......

Many thanks for the kind comments.
This isn't a build diary as such, but I'll post a few of the previous' pictures for those of you who may be interested.
The pictures below aren't in any particular order.
The kit isn't actually all that detailed considering the size but it's so big it's easy and fun to add lots of extra's such as the wiring, fuel lines, plumbing, brake lines etc etc...
I'm actually up to the main body painting stage at present so I'll add a few extra pics when I get it sorted.

Fantastic!!!

I love the E type and this is looking amazing BigGrin

I've often wanted an E type, a retired boss of mine has a mint series 1 in a garage with de-humidyfiers!

Every now and then I stick a car is reborn on too, loved how that car came together

Keep up the good workCool

I've been working away at this one for the past week (the advantages of only working 3 days a week....) and it's rattling along nicely.
I've scratch made the seat backs - the kit doesn't have any!!! - and I've made the air intake baffles etc.
The paint is on - Halfords primer, 3 coats of Humbrol white gloss, lots of wet sanding and 2 topcoats of 2K clear coat.
Evil smell, but WHAT a finish!
Still a lot to do....

Many thanks for the kind comments.
With regards covering the engine, I've actually left off the hinges so the bonnet is easily removed.
When the car is finished, it's going in a glass display cabinet I have just bought for all my 'big' cars. The bonnet will stand on end beside the car.
I've just added the racing decals to the body even though the door insides aren't finished - I couldn't wait!
I made and printed the decals myself. I'll post more pics soon.
This kit sometimes goes for high money on ebay - there's one on there right now and the bids are up to £130+ p/p.....
All I can say though is it's worth it!
If you enjoyed building your McLaren for over £650, then get an E Type for much less.
I intend getting another and building it as a roadster.

Enjoy your holiday.
The kit is often popping up on Ebay and as a general rule it goes for 'around' £100.
I was VERY lucky and got mine, AND the 1/8 Corvette Stingray for £65 +p/p......
I'm definitely going to get another one at some time and now that I've built it, I'll be prepared to WIN one, which will mean putting in a last-minute bid (sub 10 seconds) of up to £150.
This model really is worth it.
Revell are frequently reissuing old kits.
WHY don't they reissue this one????

Roy.

As a little added point then....
My Corvette.
I actually cut the doors out myself and fabricated the hinges, door panels, shut faces etc as the kit doesn't have opening doors.
Oh - sorry about the number plate.....

Love the Corvette Roy, a very nice build - well done and thanks for showing your work!! Cool ThumpUp

Just thought I might add that I have one of those Revell/Monogram E-Types in my loft. Bought it for £8.00 (Yes, £8.00!!) at a car boot sale about ten years ago. Unfortunately, it is in need of a bit of restoration as I bought it in what can only be described as a bit of a state. It is totally unpainted but almost fully built, some of the parts have become detached but I'm sure it's all there!!

Not sure what to do with it now as I originally intended to 'back engineer' it and rebuild from scratch with lots of extra detail, though I'm not sure that I will ever get round to it now or whether I really even want to!!

I'll post some pics so you can see the wreck at some point if I have time?
