hey guys i was just wondering about spare parts eg getting another set of tyres, front spoilers, rear spoiler, etc etc. if we need spare parts or want to doulble up how can we do it? will we have to buy 2 issues of that thing. that wouldnt work? eg i want 2 sets of tyres but they come all seperate so it would be too expensive to buy two sets of tryes through the issues.
Thanks

hi all you guys who will want spares, I brought up this topic when the car was first announced in the uk, and quickly did the sums,as deag were and are NOT geared up for the spares sales, I am going to slowly change over to shop bought spares of a similar nitro car. Then just use the rb7 body shell on it,then I can use the static body shell on the original kit, minus radio and engine. so that's my solution. Any other ideas guys.???? Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Parts will be available via back order of Issues throughout the length of the series and beyond.

Yeah I noticed the tyres all come in 4 separate issues. So thats $80 a set.
Probably need to buy new wheels too seeing that you will most likely glue the tyres on.
I believe the wheels also come in 4 separate issues so another $80 for a set of wheels.
Guess id beter start saving now

Not quite true.
Later issues e.g. Issue 10, contains a front wheel, tyre and insert in one issue, and Issue 53 contains a rear wheel, tyre and insert.
If you take a look at the official build diary, you will notice that in Issue 7, the tyres are advised to be glued onto the wheels.

There are some parts in the issues that would cost you less from a model shop in the but there are some parts that cost £8 or $19.99 as a back issue but would cost you 3 times from a model shop,so buying back issues for spares doesn't bother me as I would still be paying less than I would from a model shop if they sold the parts for the car but they don't.
Once you have glued the tires on the wheels and the tire are well used you can remove them from the wheels without having to buy new wheels all the time.

Parts will be available via back order of Issues throughout the length of the series and beyond. Sorry Mr T, but that's not the best customer solution. A better customer-focussed solution is to provide two or three spares kits. One with all screws, nuts, bolts, springs, levers etc; one with obvious parts that will break, such as front wing etc; and one with engine parts that will need replacing for maintenance purposes. I'd say that this would be VERY profitable for DeAgostini (by adding 2-3 more kits) as well as well as increasing customer satisfaction (always important), and increasing your whole kit orders (as many I know will not order a $2,000 RC on subscription without a plan for maintenance spares). Please send this email onto someone who can consider my request. Thank you :) BTW I have subscribed, but know at least 3 others that have not because of the lack of a proper spares strategy.

I hear what you say, and it maybe something that is considered for future R/C product. However, though not ideal, spares can be purchased via the backorder route and of your choosing.
Adding additional partd will escalate the overall series cost, which many may feel uncomfortable with.
DeAgostini read the forum therefore your comment will be seen.

Thanks Mr T. I hope the Product Manager from Deagostini reads this as I have been one for many years and know that it would be relatively easy to offer spares kits towards the end of the build - after all, that's over 90 weeks away, so plenty of time to sort this out.

I think it is such a shame that you chose negativity as a basis for your first post on the forum Gazza - surely there is something more positive to say!!?
If you aren't happy with the spares situation then perhaps you should consider more carefully whether or not the RB7 series is right for you and whether or not you should subscribe to it?
Just an observation you understand?

Gazza,
Quite a few R/C vehicles that come onto the market each year have very limited spares back-up, or no back-up at all after 12 months let alone 5 years, and an awful lot of imported R/C product has no spares back-up what so ever..

To be honest I see no reason why back issues for spares will not be available for some time to come well after the build has finished.. If I was to do this one then I would get the issues that I thought would be most likely to take damage... either that or improve my driving skills I would only think about taking this out on a smooth surface and one that has a great area to practice on.. I know there are not always areas like this available to everyone but i'm sure there are clubs about that hire out halls etc.. On another note it's certainly a build worth having just for display too! Either way Gazza I think you will be happy with the finished product.. Spencer

I will be spending roughly the same amount of money on back issues for spares as it will cost to build the car as I want this car to last as long as possible, but hopefully I won't have to use some of them as I am a careful driver but at least I will have them just in-case something does breaks.
The main issues I will buy a lot of are the ones that contain the wheels and tires as they will wear the most as time goes on,and I am looking to have about 6 sets of tires or maybe more.

Hi Mr T, re your previous advice above, I've been checking re spares and can see that the rear wheel/tyre comes in stage 53 (and also in stage 72) however I can only see front wheel in stage 10 and tyre comes in stage 11? Similarly other front wheel/tyre comes in stages 3 &7?
I just wondered if anything has changed as it would be great to oder front wheel /tyre in one issue like we can with the rear's.
Regards Phil
