Hi All, Just collected my latest purchase off E-Bay "Hachette`s build the TITANIC" The kit I have bought has been completed to part 22 of 100 Situation at present is as follows: Part built section looks ok,some minor remedial work required but, may take things back a bit further and balsa infill. Parts 22 and 23 have been opened, but look complete. Parts 24 to 100 still sealed. So where do I go from here? Firstly, a good search through everything and then I`ll post some pics to show the state of play.(Probably at weekend) All in all, looks pretty How much one ask`s £72.10p it. Watch this space Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Court, Cost new near £400 (close) Viking Longboat (Not Me) E-Bay Hotshot (Nah), just right place, right time. You got nothing to worry about mate. Recently bought the Victory 1-120 For £175. It was the sellers dad`s collection that he didn`t want and he had no buyers even with a buy it now price of £250, so he accepted my offer of £175. Lucky me, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Am looking forward to this one, even though it needs slight remedial work it`s nothing serious . As for the diary it may be a bit patchy as I have a few builds on the go and I`m waiting first Spitfire delivery. I am going to post some pics of the purchase asap, then a minor strip back, balsa infills and then onward and upward. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Derek I managed to buy the set unbuilt recently on eBay from a vicar of all things. Paid a little bit more but overall pleased. Then the "rivet counter" mentality kicks in and I start reading that the card cabins have some issues -,there was an official online build and they started getting into brass parts - very expensive on my wage . Hope it's acceptable to,post this but you may find the following of interest. http://www.minibrass.com...info.php?products_id=40

Best wishes with your build. Saw jonny7englands finished kit the other night on the finished build gallery and he made a top job of the kit. Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Kind regards Tony Hi Tony, Thanks for looking in and the excellent links. Now, the brassy bits are very nice, but as you rightly say "Expensive", that said some of the lower priced bits may be worth a thought. The build log looks very useful and I will be referencing that on a regular basis. Having looked at the planking bits, I am more convinced than ever that balsa infills is the way to go. It will take some time, but using it on the SotS made getting the planking level so much easier. Many thanks for your info input and assistance. Hi All, Well, as promised here are the pics of the Titanic (part built) kit I purchased recently. First three pictures show what I bought (no close-up detail) and the rest of the issues to complete the build. Pic 4 Now , the following pics will show the remedial work required before the build can progress. Nothing to drastic (I think/hope) First, a cracked deck panel that has not been stuck down very well!!Pic 5 Secondly, the little planking that has been done is poor. ie: gaps between planks and adjacent planks not stuck to each other.Pic 6 Lastly, another point where the deck has not been fixed properly.Pic 7 Now this how I intend to progress this build. Remove planking and damaged/poorly stuck decking if possible without causing further damage. Balsa infill the whole hull. Then repair split deck and replace any removed deck panels. Replace the removed planking. At this point I should be in a position to progress with the build. That`s it for now. Any comments and or suggestions will be gratefully accepted. Hi Jonny7, Yep, some bits do look a bit fragile, but I think the issues here have been caused by the parts not being fixed very well. Only time will tell Thanks for looking in.
