As you may have seen in the kit reviews of the Polar Lights 1/32 Batmobile I did a few months back, I've found a little time to start this iconic model car.. The first task was to remove all the bad mold lines, this being so as it claims to use the original molds way back when first released. To show these up I desided after a wash in soapy warm water to give the body a coat of Tamiya Fine filling primer. Once dry overnight the task of removing any blemishes and flash was much easier to find... The "Nose" or "Bumper" section was then test fitted to see if any filling had to be done... and yes there was quiet a bit as you can see from the photo's. Once this had cured the filler was sanded down using fine needle files and then given another coat of the Tamiya Grey Primer. While all this was being done including drying time, the chrome parts where left overnight in Bleach to remove the chrome... Some parts will need to be improved upon as the kit parts are not that good to be honest... Thats it for now but more updates soon.. Warthog attached the following image(s):

Now to start putting on the decals before a coat of clear gloss... Not the best Decals I've had to work with and even microsol will not lay them down as I want them. If I'm not happy then i will redo them using red pinstripe Vinyl Tape but i hope it does not come down to that!.. Warthog attached the following image(s):

Hi everyone and thank you for the nice comments so far.. This is just a small update as busy with other things and the Decals problem with laying down is taking longer than anything i've decal'd before! but saying that it's still an enjoyable task. The problem being that the decals tend to break up so a lot of maneuvering around. I did try the Vinyl coach lines but even that was not without its own problems... Anyway I hope to have all the decals finished these next few days so another update soon. In the meantime, I hope you like the latest update.. Spencer Warthog attached the following image(s):

Very nice Spencer, so, are the red stripes decals or paint? You mentioned they were breaking up so wondered if they were still ok to use? Steve

Hi Steve and thanks for looking in and your kind comments They are the decals that are supplied with the kit but a lot of manoeuvring to get them to line up. To paint them would have posted a bigger problem as the line is very thin. Not to say impossible but time consuming to say the least. Spencer

As the night rolls in and the deadly duo go about their crime fighting capers, Alfred gaurds the Batcave and does a little more to the Batmobile... All the Pinstripe Decals are now painstakingly apllied, I say painstaking as just about everyone cracked and was harder to put down than laminate flooring from the corner shop.. Once this was done a nice clear coat of lacquer apllied to pretect and give a bit of a shine. The seating and instrument panel was given a good soaking in oven cleaner to remove the Chrome plating and then a matt Black finish. All the little details and parts where painted and attached before the seating tub was then inserted into the main body.. Next the wheels where made up which consisted of two halves and a central hub. The Hubs where stripped of the chrome platting and once attached all 4 wheels given a nice coat of matt black and left to dry. The details of the wheels where then picked out and given a bit of "Life" as where the windshields with a thin line os silver around the edges.. the final 2 decals then placed on the doors and the parachutes (Airbrakes) added to the rear (never did understand why put 2 parachutes by a jet engine nozzle? Health and safety in those days was clearly not a priority for these two heroes) So that just leaves the Chrime Fighting duo to do! Well when they come back from a hard evening evening of fisticuffs I'll get them to try the old beastie out.. Stay tuned.... Warthog attached the following image(s):
