Hi All,BigGrin

This is a long term project, because at this point I`ve not been able to acquire all the parts I need.Crying Crying

Collection to date:

Heller 1:400 Bismark
Prinz Eugen
HMS.Hood
HMS.King George V

Pic below

I have just ordered brass etch for all of the above kits from America at a cost of nearly £80.

As you can see from the above this is a serious collection in the making.

Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink Blink

Now, Confused all I need is as follows:

HMS Suffolk
HMS Norfolk
HMS Ark Royal

I can find the Ark Royal and Suffolk, but nearest scale is 1:600(would obviously prefer 1:400) and I can`t find the Norfolk in kit form anywhere.

Any help and/or advise including links if possible would be very gratefully accepted.

Regards

Heller do a 1/400 HMS Victorious carrier which took part in the hunt for Bismarck.

The kit is out of production but can still be found on eBay. Also WEM have a PE and resin set for it and L'Arsenal have some very sweet resin 1/400 Swordfish and Fulmar kits for it.

Forgot to add that the Heller kit is titled HMS Illustrous which was the sister ship of Victorious along with Formidable, and the kit can be built as either version.

Boystown seem to have it..

Norfolk and Suffolk are very similar yo may be able to convert a kit of one for another.

I don't want to add to your burden. But...
What about Prince of Wales and you should have a destroyer you can certainly get Cossack in that scale

And don't forget the ship that actually sank the beast! HMS Dorsetshire. Many years ago I made a model of Dorsetshire for an old chap who was a member of her crew on that day. I used an Airfix kit of one of her sister ships with some conversion work around the stern area. When I find out which kit it was I'll let you know.

Robin

Had a quick scan around the web, I think it must have been the kit of HMS Suffolk.

Hi All,BigGrin BigGrin

Thanks to all the above for your input and advise.

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

Update:

Now understanding I`m gonna have to mix scale sizes, or this collection will need a museum to house it. LOL LOL

To that end:

Aquired: Hms Rodney 1:700 waterline

On watch:

Hms Victorious 1:600
Hms Ark Royal 1:600
Hms Prince of Wales 1:600
Hms Renown 1:600
Hms Suffolk - (Norfolk as an adjusted kit as similar)1:600

Struggling with: (at the moment)

Hms Dorsetshire
Hms Sheffield

So onwards and upwards and we`ll see what happens. Blink

Many thanks again for info so far,

Hi Andy, BigGrin

Understand what you say about duties, but couldn`t find etch in 1:400 anywhere other than the states.
So I`ll just have to hope for the best or pay the price.

If you have the need for any more 1400 ship etch try WEM in the UK

Hi Alan, LOL LOL LOL

I`d have to hijack the local boating lake for a dio of this lot Laugh

It`s going to be a wall mounted display, but can`t finalize the format yet as things are still changing with the scale of some of the kits.

Watch this space seems to be the apt comment BigGrin

Thanks for looking in. Cool

Hi Andy,Cool

That`s a cracking looking kit.

Don`t know about the upgrades yet, as may not all be visible dependent on how the display pans out.

Many thanks for the help, much appreciated.
