Colson, what an ingenious way of using the parts from the MPC Falcon. I love the circuit bay and your wall is looking astonishing.

I'm hoping to do another update fairly soon. Been on vacation and busy, so haven't been able to spend a lot of time on the model. I'm itching to get back to it.

How much was that etching set? The photo etch was $36 from ParaGrafix http://www.paragrafix.bi...tail.asp?PPartNum=pgx197

And there's the sconces to go on the walls. That part I'll tackle once fully done with the floors. Probably still be a bit. But certainly updates and photos will follow.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone. I got a bunch of Star Wars merchandise, but this is icing on the cake. Welcome to my work bench. There's gonna be a point here soon I would imagine where there won't be a heck of a lot we'll be able to do with the Falcon. So these will certainly hold me over.

Alright. Done some more work with the photo etch from Paragrafix. So I've done the corridor panels for the Falcon. I first drilled out and cut the holes in the walls for the panels to cover and light to shine through. Then primed... Painted... And added color to the back side. Added some LEDs I glued some white paper behind the cut outs to diffuse the light and make it a little less intense. And added some color to the paper as well. And here we have it so far And next will be on to the wall sconces.

That's some nice work there Colson. I planned on going the same route as you with my own touches. I am so far behind you guys. Hoping packs 4-9 show up soon. Then I can request 10 and 11, then I should be able to catch up pretty quick. How are planning on displaying your Falcon to show off all the nice extras in your hold area? Best Regards, Ron

Nytetrain wrote:How are planning on displaying your Falcon to show off all the nice extras in your hold area? That's a good question. Still trying to figure that out. I've thought about making the hold it's own display. I'm going to be building a table with a glass case for the Falcon. I had thought about a drawer lined with black velvet that would slide out from the table and house the hold. Not sure though. Keeping it in the model and under a glass case would make it problematic to take the top on and off to show the inside.

Beautiful work Colson!!
I like your idea of displaying the hold as a separate model, if you are going to make a display case in a table surely you could have the hold set to the side of the Falcon in the table?
