Hi all, Fixed the plank under the gallery. Soaked it first in hot water, bent it into shape and held it in situ with pins until dry. once dry, I pulled the pins out, glued it back into its place and re-pinned. Once the glue had cured, the pins were removed. The plank was then sanded into the correct profile. That's all for now. More to follow later. Claret. Also working on: SOTS. Hi again, When i had finished the planking, i masked off all the non planked areas and sprayed the planking with grey primer, fortunately the bank holiday weekend here in the north west was nice enough to do this outside (no way would I have had permission to do this inside!). 24 hours later, I removed the masking tape and set about sanding the hull, using p80 paper first. several hours later (not non-stop) the grey primer had been removed, leaving a few recesses that needed filling. these were filled and duly sanded. I finished off with fine sand paper p150. A couple of areas where the bambo may be a little thinner that I wanted, but on the whole the result was okay. pics below: Thanks for looking in. Hi Andy, Nigel, AAS, Kobus Beukes & Alan, Thanks for all your kind words. The hull is surprising smooth after all the sanding. I read in a couple of diaires of sore arms etc. My thoughts were ' from a little sanding?' How nieve I too had the symptoms of sanders elbow for a couple of days. Hopefully this weekend, it will be marking the hull up for cutting and adding the canon ports, still looks daunting. Regards Claret Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Hi, Have started to cut the gun ports out, first one done after measuring out all the ports on the one side. Measuring and rechecking before drilling a centre hole and one each corner within the marked area about a 1mm from the edge. I then cut the waste area out with a small saw that came with my scalpel set. Then using emery board, sand, measure with a vernier, sand and measure until the right size acheived. A spirit level was used to ensure the ship was level and the gun ports were also. Regards Claret Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.
