Hi All, Just a short update on progress to date. I have built the bell tower as a little side project. This is because of the way my shifts at work have fallen recently. So the roof has been gilded to keep the theme going all across the build. (Pic 1) In the meantime I have also constructed the ships lantern and prepped it ready for gilding. (Pic 2) The more complex gilding has taken place with the stern decor and here is a pic of a section. I will try to get a better pic as this one does not do the gold colour justice. (It`s as bright as the bell tower roof) (Pic 3) All of the gilding will get a final brushing (to remove unwanted flakes) and then get a double coat of varnish. That`s all for now, Happy building, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

The gold is taking a bit of extra time obviously, but I think when it`s all done and fitted the effort will be rewarded. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

You are very right in what you say, it does look even better in the flesh so to speak, the picture really doesn`t do it justice. Will try to get better lighting on the next pics, but only using a phone camera so not so good. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi All, Well as it`s been said "There comes a time in a man`s life" Blah Blah Blah. This is one of mine. Time to use a spay gun for the first time in my life Found myself some scrap plywood and masked a square off, using "Frogtape" delicate surface and some good old newspaper. To my utter amazement found it very easy first time . So took the bull by the horns, so to speak, marked up the paint line on one side, masked everything else and sprayed the black paint. I`ll let you be the judges, but I "think" it looks Ok.(Pic 1) I could get away with murder with a shot like that. So took a close up.(Pic 2) Please be gentle, but comments good and/or bad gratefully accepted, as I would not want to carry on if something is wrong. Happy Building, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) delboy271155 attached the following image(s): COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Only paint spraying ever done before was with spray cans and it always got very messy. Thanks for taking the time to look in. Hi Alan, Many thanks for your time looking in. I think as always, the first time you do something for real, rather than a practice piece, it`s gonna be a daunting prospect. My way of looking at it is, "I have spent "X" amount of hours getting this build to this point and I can make a total hash of it in seconds. Thankfully not in this case Happy Building, Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Derek Nowt wrong with that M8 , sometimes its the madness in the method that confuses which basicly says people have made out that airbrushing is harder than it actually is . As in all things practice and looking how others have achieved a 'look' is the learning curve we all travel on . I too learn something new every time I use an airbrush but i also think it comes down to practice, technique, learning from others to improve your abillitys and lastly confidence, this to me is the most important part because as you get more confidence you try new techniques and improve your finishes and with that your satisfaction. regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Trev, Yep it was water based paint, from the Deag Sovereign paint set. Am already thinking about the Spitfire, even though painting must be quite a way off yet.
