Regards Thanks Pinks I very nearly came close to throwing in the towel on that mast and going with the plastic one.

I am finding that as I get nearer to the end this build has started to slow down. I have now decided that I need to set myself a realistic deadline to get this complete. Yeovilton is on 21st feb and has a model competition, as it is quite close to me I have decided I will be attending and will also be entering this into the competition. I am secrelty hoping it does really well, but am not expecting much, but as its only 50p to enter I thought I havent really got any thing to lose. So there is my deadline, still lots of little things to do but I am confident that I can reach this deadline. Examples of things left to do, finsih the spotlights, lots of little deck bits to add, guards around the guns, life boats, paint the blast bags on the secondary gun turrets, fore and aft masts, hose reels, ammo boxes, single 25mm AA guns and flags. I think that covers it, some of these are already at some point in my production line of prmer, paint and varnish. Once all is assembled and a couple of touch ups done I will then see if I have time to give it a dry brush in places, any suggestions for colours appreciated, im thinking a light grey but with an oiil paint as the Tamiya acrylics with thinner tends to dry out too quickly. A couple of pictures of where I am, with sandbags hand painted, triple 25mm AA guns added and a start to filling in the deck with the small deatils.

Stunning build Dave and if it doesn't win something it will be a travesty, even my Warspite dio got model of the month on Revell Ations so this would get model of the year. Great build. Ken's the name modeling's the game.

Thanks Alan Thanks Ken, keeping my fingers crossed, of course I need to get all these lite bits sorted in time now, I will however still display her even if not finished just as a nearly finished work in progress

Thanks Alan, Bollards, hose reels, ammo boxes and life boats added, I also added a grey wash to the vents on the super structure, it looks a bit strange in these pictures though as I used a flash, also a pin wash added to the sand bags to get into all the little crevaces. The lifeboats were hand painted with Tamya acrylics, they give a really nice finish hand painted but also a lot of work as you need to thin the pain, then do several layers, it took me 3. Fore and aft masts to do, life boat hangie things on the sides also need adding, rear triple 25mm gun platform, flags and the search lights. I have also noticed I am still missing two gun directors on the rear which will need to be done. Ignore the random catapult in the second picture, too it off to get the boats in Getting so close to being ready for the show
