JG, Thanks m8, hopefully my posts will help others but I've gotten some great advice and helpful hints from many in here. When you start your build, start a log, the advice and help has been very well worth it for me. And best of luck to you on your build. Go slow, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Cheers Dominick

Thanks Gents, I'm hoping to get the first set of cannon ports measured, marked, and cut over the course of this week. Dominick

Folks, Sorry, it's been slow going this last week between the holiday, work, and having a friend in town for a visit. I managed to get the frames marked but that's as far as I've gone regarding Victory construction. I did assemble a waterline marker which should help with keeping some of the cannon ports parallel to the waterline. Hopefully I'll get further this week but I haven't given up. Dominick

Alright M8s, Gun ports marked and I thought I'd post a few photos here and get some feedback before I drill and cut. So here they are, 1 per post since I am on the iPad again. One side DSoldano attached the following image(s): Dominick

Thanks Ian and Alan, Now I can start cutting them. I also saw the DeAgostini billed for month 4 so that should arrive in about a week. My original plan was to try to keep up but I will probably fall behind, and even further when I tile the hull but no worries, I'd rather go slow and end up with a great result. One quick question though, when I drill and cut the gun ports at the bow, I assume the cannon should stick straight out to the side (90 degrees to the keel), correct? Should the gun port sides be 90 degrees to the keel as well or 90 degrees to the curvature of the planks? More to come soon. Dominick

Hi Dominick, don't be too surprised if you fall behind when month 4 arrives, there is a lot of work to be done in that month.. Important thing is to enjoy your build, take your time to achieve the results you want as after all it's not a race you've entered but a fabulous journey. As for the bow gun ports, simple answer is the base of the port should be parallel to the water line and the gun port sides should be 90 degrees to the base of the port.... Keep up the good work, will be following.... Regards Alan
