Stage 114 Contents: Gallery Roof, Decorations, Single 5mm Blocks, Figure and Figure Arms.

In this build stage you will now prepare all the mast spars. Use your own selected method of tapering on the sections. Retrieve the dowels supplied with stage 113.

Take a 7 x 455mm dowel and mark a line around its exact centre. Mark a line 255mm either side of the centre line and cut to length. Now taper the dowel either side of the centre line so it measures 7mm at the centre tapering down to 4mm at either end, ensuring a smooth taper. Label the yard as Y9.
Prepare the two other 7mm dowels in the same way. The first, Y6, should be 396mm long and have a diameter of 7mm at the centre tapering down to 4mm at each end. The second, Y3, should have a length of 346mm and with same diameters as Y6.

Now prepare two 6 x 300mm dowels. Cut the first one, Y1, 238mm long, tapering from 6mm in the centre to 3mm at either end. Note: The text in step 4 of the instructions say to taper to 2mm at either end, this should say 3mm. The second, Y7, should be 195mm long with the same diameters as Y1.

With the two remaining 6 x 300mm dowels, create yards Y11 and Y4. Y11 should be 186mm long and Y4 should be 167mm long. Both should taper from 6mm in the centre to 3mm at the ends.

Prepare from a 4 x 300mm dowel yards Y2 and Y5. Y2 should be 124mm long, tapering from 4mm at the centre to 2mm at the ends. Y5 should be 88mm long, tapering from 4mm at the centre to 2mm at the ends.

Prepare from a second 4 x 300 dowel yards Y8 and Y10. Both should be 102mm long with diameters of 4mm at the centre, tapering to 2mm at the ends.

Remove any burrs or flash from decorations C153, C153a, C153b, C57a, C57b and C57c supplied with this stage. Glue the arms C57b and C57c onto the body of the figure C57a, creating figure C57. Apply a coat of metal primer to the decorations and figure then leave to dry. Now follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint these decorations.

Store the yards, the decorations and any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

This stage is now complete.

This completes Pack 10.

Pack 11

Stage 115 Contents: Gallery Roof, Decorations, Cannon Carriage, Wheels, Cannon, Metal Rod, Eyebolts and Brackets.

Retrieve all the parts of the T1 mast top from stages 91 and 95. Glue the four quarter pieces together face to face, arranging them so the edges are aligned. Sand down both side of the assembled piece until it has a thickness of 7mm. Glue the semi circular pieces onto each side of the assembly ensuring the edges are aligned. Once dry, smooth the edges
.
Now retrieve all the parts of the T2 mast top from stage 101. Glue the two quarter and two semi circular pieces together to make mast cap T2-T. With a round file, create a 5mm circular shape in the space between the two sides, testing with a 5mm diameter dowel off-cut. Sand the mast cap smooth.

Retrieve all the T3 mast top parts from Stage 102. Glue the three quarter and two semi circular pieces together in the same way as the other mast caps to create T3-T. Create a 7mm hole in between the two sides, again testing with a 7mm dowel off-cut. Sand the mast cap smooth.

Now retrieve all the T4 mast top parts from stage 103. Assemble the mast cap T4-T in the same way as the others. Create a 5mm opening between the two sides with a round file then sand the mast cap smooth.

Retrieve the T6 mast top parts from stage 112. Assemble the mast cap T6-T in the same way as the others. Sand the mast cap smooth.

Prepare the cannon parts following the steps already outlined in Stage 9 of the build.

Remove any burrs or flash from decorations C154, C154a, C154b and C154c then apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry. Now follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint these decorations.

Store the mast caps and parts carefully, ensuring you do not get the parts mixed up. Store the decorations and any unused parts in a bag labelled with this stage number.

This stage is now complete.
