Hello Alan,
To me as I build the Spitfire that it has a solid feel about it, which can only be good for years to come because I am sure it will end up with the grandchildren !!

Hi Tony,
Many thanks for taking a look at the Spitfire build, my thoughts are try and keep your build area as clean and unclutter as possible and it will follow through to your build.

UPDATE:SPITFIRE.
Engine Compartment.

My next job was to remove four cross bars from the top side of the engine compartment, the tools I will use are 20mm hand saw and a smooth hand file.

Also I will be fitting small reinforcements to the front part of the engine compartment.

These are the central bars I will remove from the fuselage assembly.

First I use my 20mm hand saw and very carefully cut through and removed each bar, the only point that I found that you must support the frame work to avoid a slip.

With all frame bars removed.

The next job is to smooth along the frames with a file and then sandpaper down to a smooth finish.

Next part reinforcements.

This picture shows two very small reinforcements removed from the fret, at this stage I left to sand when glued in.

With the two small reinforcements that I had with stage 48 the first job was to test fit and then glue, because of the size of these two frets I found it better to sand when dry.

Kind Regards,
Trev.

Nice work Trev Cool

Be careful where you mount any additional reinforcements is the engine bay area, they may cause fit problems when it comes to mounting the motor mount and engine head.

Tony,
Thank you for your comments that engine has to be very powerful to drive the metal prop (it's quite a weight )maybe it has a slow rotation.

Steve,
Thanks Steve I do like building aircraft and I have enjoyed building the Spitfire, I have been working on a jig to make the roller riveting more acceptable as I fear this will be a bit tricky and you only get one go at it.
