Nice to see the spotting tops in wood, I had suspected they may be cast metal as they are on the San Fran 2. won't be long before your on that riggingBigGrin

Thanks Stevie, you are so right, this build is so different to the Vic and have to admit compared to the Titanic we are so very spoilt in terms of instructions.... the difference between the instructions on a partwork and the full titanic kit is unbelievable.... To get going in this hobby the partworks is definitely the way to go.... Cool Cool .. First plank on the Titanic has been applied so will be posting pics on that very soon... Thanks again..... Cool Cool

Thanks Jase and yes, I am so pleased the fighting tops are having to be put together in wood... the same thing on the SF 2 just appears to be so false..... As for the rigging, think you are way way off the mark there. Have just been onto the Italian forum and they are on week 111, no sign of rigging yet and in fact the fitting of the masts hasn't yet started. They are still fitting all the bling and gun port lids.... Think we will be lucky if rigging starts this year. I think I am looking forward to that part of the build....LOL LOL LOL

A little more progress today with the fitting of the gallery supports under the transom.... Looking at the parts I didn't really think I would get a good match simply painting the parts sapele colour so decided using sapele strips to cover the pieces... A little bit of shaping was also needed to get a nice fit, a slow process but worth the effort.... The front edges were then painted gold. All that is needed now is to apply some clear matt varnish to the support sides to match the rest of the sapele..... Cool Cool .. Tomorrow I intend to work on the fitting the rudder and accessories to the ships launch, after that I may be able to get back to the Titanic....Blink Blink

Happy building all

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,
Looking at your build Alan, I can see you have spent at lot of time around the gallery, but it does look the part. I think your decision on using Sapele strips was right as this will help, yes a bit more work, but that's what makes a better build good luck with the rudder and accessories.

Trev.

Thanks Trev, appreciate you looking in the very nice comments... The gallery for me is a stunning part of the SOTS and very much worth taking that extra bit of time over to get it right.... There are masses more bling still to be added yet though....Cool Cool

Thanks again..

Hi all, today I finished making up the rudder for the launch, the barrel and mast. Fitted the items in place, as the rudder is detachable it would likely get damaged, knocked off or even lost so I decided to glue in place inside the launch itself.... Cool Cool .. This brings to an end issue 80 leaving me a couple of evenings to work on the Titanic....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan
