Your kind comments make this even more worthwhile.. It was my intention to make the build log as detailed as possible but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would grow to the size it is..... Wonder how much more before the final entry is made... time will tell.... .. Thanks again... Regards Alan

Hi Alan She really is looking stunning, I love it! Quick question or 2. I've been looking at your installation of deck 2 (post #261) - are there no pins in that deck as in lower deck? If not, why do the deck support beams need additional support underneath? Is there a gap between deck 2 and the dummy cannon supports? If there is a gap is it covered up? I'm putting little wooden block bracings (4mm thick) behind the dummy cannon supports at each rib joint as I'm concerned the glue may not be strong enough by itself once drilling the holes for the cannons commences. Regards JohnP

Regards JohnP Thank you John I am happy you like the build and thanks for taking the time to look in..... As for your questions I'll answer as best I can.. It is not necessary to add additional supports under the deck beams but many builders put them in purely as a belts and braces measure... Something dropping onto the deck or maybe a little heavy handedness on the deck itself and the deck supports could crack or snap.. applying the additional supports would help to prevent any accidents of this nature.... There is a gap between the top of the lower dummy gun supports and the second deck.. Don't be concerned about this as when the hull is planked and the gun ports cut out the gap will not be seen... As for the adding of additional bracing pieces behind the dummy gun supports, this is a good idea. The rigors of drilling into these later in the build would prove problematic should the supports give way... the bracing pieces you are putting in will not be seen so go for it.... Hope this answers your questions and should you have any others then please ask away, am here to assist should you need it.... Thanks again.. Regards Alan

Hi Alan. It's always a pleasure looking in on your build and seeing what is yet to come for us Newbies. If we can get anywhere near your quality we will be doing exceptionally well. Great too to pick up your tips as you progress. It will certainly help us avoid the pitfalls. Regards George Building HMS SOTS
