Hi Garth,
Those cannons really do look amazing now they're finished and all that dry brushing has added an extra depth to the detailing. You've really gone the 'extra mile' with those. well done mate!

Hi All, Just a small update today. I cleaned up the stern planking and then started the second row of planks on the starboard side. Holding the second skin planks has really been challenging. I have really battled to hold them flat onto the bottom skin. There are no formers to clamp them to as with the bottom skin. I finally resorted to pinning them – this seems to work. I also made some more of the deck accessories. I substituted the bearings with lead shot. They’re not as uniform as the bearings and I think this works on a model like the Pearl. Hi All, Some more planking in this update. I have had some trouble with the planks splitting.  It seems that the wood grain does not run parallel to the strip with some pieces. This has been really frustrating!!! At least on this model, seen as I’m painting everything black in any case, things like that will not really matter – I think it just adds to the detail. Hi Garth
She's coming along nicely now and I like your cutaway effect on the hull.
I might be wrong, but it looks like you're using walnut strips and these can be very hard grained and difficult to bend easily. I had the same problem on my 'Victory' build, even prolonged soaking didn't really help a lot, but as it is such a hard grain, it does sand down nicely as I see you've done.
