Stage 117 Contents: Gallery Parts, Decorations, Cannon Carriage, Wheels, Cannon, Metal Rod, Eyebolts and Brackets.
Remove any burrs or flash from the gallery parts received with this stage and apply a coat of metal primer and leave to dry. Now follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint these decorations.
Paint the four lion head decorations received with this stage and paint in the same way as you’ve done with the others.
Prepare the cannon parts following the steps already outlined in Stage 9 of the build.
Locate and cut out the marked covered openings along the deck, then sand the openings smooth.
Recover the CPA assembly from stage 64 and paint it red (RAL3004). Now retrieve the CPB assembly from stage 65, paint it with the same red then paint the top black (RAL9004).
Retrieve the five ladders assemble in stage 84 and paint them. I chose to paint them using the same colour as that used on the door frames.
Retrieve the gratings assembled in stage 61 and 66 then paint or stain them. I chose to paint them using the same colour as that used on the door frames.
Now glue the ladders against the bulkheads. Then glue the capstan part CPA to the lower deck, 48mm aft of the front edge of the opening, making sure it is centred. Glue the longest grating over the opening in the deck ensuring it is the correct way round, then glue the capstan CPB in the centre of the one blocked section of the grating. Finally, glue the shorter grating over the opening at the aft end of the main deck.
This stage is now complete.Gandale attached the following image(s):

Stage 118 Contents: Dummy Cannons and DecorationsWe now start assembling the various decorations. Before gluing, always test-fit the parts so that small adjustments can be made. Also, make sure to use only a small amount of glue to avoid discolorations of the pieces. Retrieve decorations C27 and C28, painted in stages 24 and 47. Lay the parts on a flat surface, test-fit together and make any necessary adjustments, then glue them together. If necessary, apply a little putty to the joints between the two pieces, smooth the putty once dry then touch up the paint. Now take the figure decoration C32 from stage 49 and glue in position, ensure it is centred. Glue the two decorations C30 and C31 from stage 47, one on either side of the figure. Paint the back of these gold if you haven’t already done so. Glue the crown decoration C29 between the two griffons then paint the back gold and red. Test-fit the assembly to the top of the transom, adjust the shape of the transom to get the tightest fit possible then glue the assembly in place. Glue the curtain decorations C33 and C34 from stages 51 and 54 onto the transom, under the assembly you’ve just fitted. Then glue decorations C4, C5 and C6 supplies with stage 1, between the two curtain decorations. Follow steps 9 to 28 of the instructions to assemble the upper and lower port galleries. Hold the lower gallery up against the port quarter so that the aft edge of C73 is flush with the curve of the transom, then mark the forward edge of the gallery onto the two raised strakes. Now hold the upper gallery against the port quarter, matching the aft end with the transom. Hold the gallery in place and mark the forward edge onto the two raised strakes. Mark the top edges of the upper gallery onto the red area of the hull. Carefully remove the rear portions of the strakes you marked off earlier and cut away the sections marked on the red area. Paint or stain the areas where the strakes were removed then retouch the red area and bringing the paint down to where the aft end of the upper gallery will be. When dry, test-fit the galleries, (DO NOT GLUE IN PLACE), making any necessary adjustments to get the best fit possible against the hull. Store the galleries carefully until needed again. Store any unused parts in a bag labeled with this stage number. This stage is now complete. Gandale attached the following image(s):
