That is a gorgeous hull, Rob.

I would recommend you do a trial first on some scrap. If your not carful you can get to much build up of paint which can result in you having a ridge.
As always when trying something new experiment with it first

Hi I will point out that the second yellow coat is just a quick brush over to seal the tape. The method works fine and I used it on my Vic build and can see no visible ridge where the two colours meet- http://forum.model-space...osts&t=6074&p=2
You can also use a matt varnish instead of the yellow to seal the tape. But, as Jase suggested, if you have doubts you could also have a practice on some scrap wood before trying on the Vic Steve

I know what you mean about the wriggles, I painted my Vic stripes way earlier than the mags say to. I did it when I had a nice clean hull with no obstructions for the masking. There were many cases of re-touching later though but I though this was an easier way for me. Steve

hi steve, I just never realised what involved in painting,as it is my first build after all. There are a lot of instances in the magazine where some things should have been done at different stages etc., but not knowing what to expect what do you do. I am not complaining like the masts for example, it might have been better done after the hull was finished. I am still enjoying the build after all said and done. Great hobby to do. even better when I get all the advice I have had, I presume I am not the only one. Thanks again rob ps. just had a look at your great build and seen there were no wriggles when you painted. OH! hindsight again.

Hi Pete I did see some other ways to do this but I used the mag / official build way and found it to be fine, not easy I admit and a bit repetitive but take your time and it will be ok , you may even work out another method while you are doing it. Steve

You may need to find those deadeyes again as there are not many spares supplied. No need to order back issues though - http://www.cornwallmodel...artesania-deadeyes.html
I will say one thing I did though was to use black coated wire of a slightly thinner gauge. The reason for this is that I wanted the deadeyes black as per the the real Victory and this saved painting the wire, easier to twist also so maybe that's why I had no real trouble Steve

I think I used 0.8mm which thinking about it may not actually be thinner than the original but was much nicer to bend and twist as there was no spring in it. Steve

I only noticed on the off chance that the real ones are black so that's what I did. Make a little board with some inverted masking tape, stick them all down and spray them, then turn them over, easy!
