Looking good there G, I've only ever built one ship's boat and that was for my brother's DelPrado Bounty, fiddly little things! Judging by your weights are you getting ready to get snowed in? Best Wishes Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

Continued work on the ships launch. First marked out the slots for the oars, 2x2mm. Didn't exactly follow the mags instructions in relation to their positioning but it's very close, didnt' want the slots cutting into any of ribs as shown in the mag.... may regret it later but will wait and see.... Moved on to cutting out the slots for the oars using a very fine square file and a great deal of patience.... just so happens the file is 2x2mm square.... success I think... Gandale attached the following image(s):

On trying to fit the thwart supports found a steel rule a little on the large side. Using a scrap piece of planking I made a mark 4mm from the end, my mini template.. With this I made marks 4mm down from from the rim of the launch.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Using a strip of planking from a previous issue measured and cut 2 lengths of 82mm.... remembering the rule measure twice cut once.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Finally for this evening, using superglue fixed the thwart supports in place..... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Trying to foresee how much of the 2nd deck will be visible as I want to plank any area that can be seen... Have now ordered Tanganyka strips from CMB, 1x4mm as I really like the look of decks using this wood... If the strips are not all used in the end then I know they will be used on my Victory build, when I eventually get started on that one....

Finished fitting and gluing the forward sections of the 2nd. That's now the complete deck fixed in position.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Continued working on the ships launch... Although I am happy with my first attempt at this I don't feel it is quite good enough to go for the natural or stain finish so have decided to paint it..... Tonight gave it 2 coats of white primer...... Next step will be to give it another fine sand and it will be ready for the top coat..... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Not a lot done tonight, just gave the dummy cannon supports a coat of primer.... pics will come later when top coat is done..... happy building all....

Tonight I painted the dummy gun supports dull black, have given it two coats so far.... Not quite there yet, will give it the last coat tomorrow evening..... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Aquarium has only been up and running for 10 days so far and will admit I am pleased with how it is progressing..... Never know, maybe it will be somewhere for me to launch the ship...... Am giving a lot of consideration to cutting and framing the gun ports as we progress with the planking... Wonder if Mr T can tell us the size of the gun ports before and after lining.... Would help with the planning.. realise the location of the ports will not be known until we get to that phase of the build......
