Hi All, Made some good progress this weekend. Fitted the wales as per the instructions. While the glue was drying, I drilled & painted the 23 Lanterns. I washed in thinners to remove any grease etc. and then airbrushed with etch primer. I have painted the grates earlier but the paint was coming off so whilst the airbrush was out I gave them a new coat as well. Next time, I'll sand & stain the planking. Hi Phil W. Thanks for looking in and for the kind word. A small update today. I stained planking Ebony using an alcohol based wood stain. I will more than likely paint the outer hull black once all the assembly is done. The main reason for the stain is to fill all the crevices and provide an undercoat for the paint. Hi All, I have been a little concerned about damaging the guns protruding from the hull later in the build when the next planking must be applied. Looking ahead in the instructions, there doesn’t seem to be any reason not to fit them now. So, jumping ahead a little, I fitted a couple more rows essentially completing the bow and upper deck gun ports. I stepped the planks at the stern, so I can continue the planking as per the instructions. (Hope this works???)  Once fitted, they were sanded and given another coat of Ebony stain.
