Hi all,
Thanks guys, The clay i'm using is sculpey available from hobbycraft, its a polymer clay that has some flex in it after baking.it doesnt set until its been baked. Have u seen kids badges of animals or other colourful things that are plasticy those are usually polymer clay. It won't shrink either. Here's a link to their site.
http://www.sculpey.com/
I only used brass wire between the body and head also the body and limbs. Just to give a bit extra strength on those areas.

Give it a go stuart, I was the same as you but I sat there and thought i cant do a worse job than the supplied one. It took about 5 hours work to make.
Well worth it though. Its only £2-3 for some.

Chris

BigGrin thanks for the confidence boost but think it is beyond my capabilities

silly thought
buy roman period plastic figures (used to be airfix something else now)

but still needs the old sticky out bits as i have only seen figure heads of females

Flapper unless their related to my mrs's and she's as tough as an old walnut
ps if she reads this any further correspondence please address to Victoria Hospital

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the world of HMS Surprise.

Thanks for your nice comments.

The copper plates for the Victory build are a different scale so wouldn't fit the Surprise, I looked into it but couldn't find any of the right scale so chose bare wood.

The plans for planking, do you mean the ebook I have. If so PM me and I will send link to you.

Chris..

Hi Phil,

I measured from bow to stern along the centre line and got my planks to a measurement of 135mm.

Give this one a read..
http://forum.model-space.co.uk/default.aspx?g=posts&m=11654#post11654

It should explain how I came to the measurement.

Hi All,

Just a couple of pics of the Rudder hinges in progress. I decided to attempt to solder the hinges and am pleased with it.
