Hi Just a quick update with both sides of the rear rack finished, now is the time to make and fit the rear back cover which has to be cut from a leather sheet supplied in the kit, first thing is to measure your own work and adjust to that ( reason no to builds are the same) then cut 4 straps to fit around the outside edge of the cover, I super glued mine on being careful not to spill it will stain. This picture shows both sides fitted to form the rear rack sides, Rear back cover on the right. Next to make and fit will be the back cover, this will have leather straps around with buckles, the buckles have to be made by hand I used 1mm brass and when inserting the leather straps through the buckles be sure to cut them a bit smaller than the buckles, when inserted fold-over halfway and glue, when dry glue and pin to the corresponding places on the sides and back of the luggage rack. Back cover fitted with straps and buckles. Regards Trev ps: next will be the roof rails. Work in progress: Tombstone (Scratch) - San Francisco 2. -The Mayflower ( scratch by plan).

Trev, I have now completed the chassis thanks to your help. Have started work on the cabin but need some clamps which will arrive tomorrow. This is quite a difficult project for what is referred to as suitable for beginners! Alan

Hi Alcairns, That's a wonderful chassis build well done, I have noticed the brake leaver clamps well done on that, so you must be very proud of yourself. As for the coach build, it can be a bit stressful but no more that you can't handle, just keep posting so I can see where you are. Regards Trev. Hi Alan, Leatherwork not to bad to do, Key is to take your time and go by your own build measurements as every build will be a bit different. Regards Trev Work in progress: Tombstone (Scratch) - San Francisco 2. -The Mayflower ( scratch by plan).

Hi tf64, I don't know if you've installed the stirrups on page 55 yet, but personally I believe there in the wrong place. From what I've seen looking at photos these should be just under the main drivers unit near the front just deform the curve. If there installed where the instructions tell us to put them in real life you would need really long legs to rest them, imagine stepping on the wheel or steering unit then trying to step on them where they are in the instructions. The idea is to step on the steering unit then on the stirrup and then onto the front foot rest. My Favourite Building:- 1919 https://forum.model-spac...=339517&#post339517 -

Update: Hatbox,Streering bars, and pivot point assembly. First picture shows the hat box this I cut two 30mm circles from a piece of 2mm sheet of balsa,I then cut 18 pieces of 20 mm 5x1.5 to make the walls, when dry sanded down and stained American Walnut. Steering assembly with carriage. The carriage build was very strate forward 3 bars and two ends I have to add more at a later date such as brake lever and clefts, suspension brackets.etc. Sterring took me longer than I would have thought, plenty to think about and make, and keep it all straight, also make and fit the pivot. More soon Regards Trev. Work in progress: Tombstone (Scratch) - San Francisco 2. -The Mayflower ( scratch by plan).

Trev Nice to see your latest build update. The hat box looks like you have lined it with a patterned paper - it looks very good. Tony Happy Modelling

Tony, Thank you for looking, yes you are quite right I have lined with hat paper from the mid-1800s, found the pattern on the internet although in the kit you should cover with leather I tend to be a bit different and do my own thing. The next part will be a luggage box and ammunition box.
