Hi Benny, Hello shipmates,

just a little question about your balsa fillings.
It sounds plausible to add them but won't there be any guns or "windows" in
that area where you have placed them ?
Don't you need that space later on ?

Greetings, Mr.Quist

hi mr quist and welcome to answer your question..no the guns sit along the decks as you can see my fillings are not in those areas as for windows they will be in the gallery which sit on the gallery supports which are above my fillings at the stern.. hope this helps.. if anyone can explain better please do..
cheers benny

benny,a copuple of things I've spotted?the jig,Isee you have bolted the jig to the boat?no need to,the brackets do the holding. also the bow will have more former to install, not that, that matters anyway, keep an eye on tomics build because he is slightly ahead of us,
so you can plan more easily,I like the build so far, can't wait for the planking.
Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory

Thanks for the quick response Benny.
So I added some balsa blocks to my shopping list.
Still don't know how to cut them in shape as I don't have any
professional carpenter saw at home.Huh

Hi benny, looking good matey.
I think you know this, but im a noob to this game.
So forgive the stupid question please......
With all that extra weight on the front will it be front heavy, or will you be taking it out when the planks come. using the 'filler balsa' as a guide to chamfering the ribs?
i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.

hi piot..the balsa is at the front and back and very light and it will stay, its to give the planks more of a true form around the curved ares of planking..i am new to this too, well i think i am doing it right maybe a more experienced modeller can confirm this for me..thanks paul

Balsa is a hardwood, yet so soft it can be cut easily with a sharp modeling knife, and sanded very quickly with ordinary sand paper, it's a wonderful wood, and extremely light, so there should be no big issues with weight problems.

Nice build Benny mate Cool
