Hello again all, I have finally recieved my next 4 issues and I am pleased to say that this time they have all arrived intact. I will make a start on getting the wood die on over the next few days and should be ready to start panneling up over the coming week or so. As usual I shall keep you posted with pictures of the build. My only worry is that now I have to pin some of the panels, this may split the wood so this will be the most nervous of the build to date. I may just be worried about nothing but if anyone has had a bad experience with pinning panels on previous builds please PM me and let me know any little tricks you may have found along the way. Hi Pink, if you are concerned about the wood splitting when inserting the pins then I would consider pre-drilling the pin holes in the panels first. Cut the head from a pin, insert it into a pin vice and use this to pre-drill the holes. This method works just as well and is far cheaper than purchasing micro drills which tend to break easily.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Alan

Marc No problem Marc, one other thing.. If the pins are to be removed after the panels are set in place then you may like to consider using thumb tacks or map pins to hold the panels in place while they set.... Thumb tacks or map pins are easier to remove than the pins supplied especially if the supplied pins have been driven all the way in.... I tend to use map pins but do find the head comes off sometimes. Regards Alan

Hi Pinks. Finally found what build you are doing. You didn't mention on your post my thread. Looks really great mate. You're doing a very nice job. Interested in this build as my newsagent now has it in as well as my weekly issues of SOTS. From your work it looks to be a worthwhile build so later I might try to invest in it. hi all, thanks for all of the positive feedback and more over, it seems that I have well and truly caught the modelling bug.....I have now subscribed to the victory. Ahhh yes...yet another Victory...but what a thing to build, I have spent many an hour trawling through some of the builds and if either of my builds turn out half as good as some that I have seen, I will be a very happy ship mate I have noted that the black pearl requires some red painting on the inside panelling, but I have taken the decision to go with a lighter dye, this will be my first deviation from the instructions but I am confident that it will turn out well...failing that.... I can always re-subscribe and pass this on to my son to test if it floats Anyhow, pictures will be getting uploaded at the weekend so you will get the first glimpse at my attempts to get a little brave. happy modelling. I have finally got around to progressing my build a little, I have fitted the first gun port to the first outer hull. I have then fitted the outer hull to the frame work. I have noticed that this is around the time I am noticing small errors of alignment. a tiny amount of filler will definitely rectify this problem but it is certainly something I will be aware of as I move forward. I have also placed the first panel on the inside of the gun port placed earlier. Looking at it I am happy with my decision to stain prior to fitting as this will stop any mess or overspill onto the deck. I also am happy with the colours as I want this to be all stained wood rather than painted panels that the build is (I believe)supposed to have. as always time taken in preparation has paid off with the look, even though not much has progressed. happy modelling all.
