A very small update. I had to take a break from this build because the brass rods, that are necessary for many parts of this build, have been provided in the form of brass wire, coiled into neat tight reels. I spent one evening researching the ways to straighten it and make it stay this way and then I gave up. Again, Albion Alloys to the rescue - so I combined
my hunt for replacement D51 bushes with the brass rod sourcing for my stagecoach, and spent half of the last week waiting for the delivery.
In the meantime I removed all 192 nails from the balsa strip I used to paint them, cut them all in half (took exactly one hour), and then installed into the wheels. I have no idea how long it took, but when I was starting there was still light outside the windows, and when I finished it was light again. But here they are, looking pretty :)

Sadly, that doesn't mean the wheels are done. They still require some extra brass fittings and painting. According to instructions, the painting (of the rim strip) should be done with shoe polish diluted with a thinner. We'll see how it goes...
Thanks for dropping by, and happy modelling :)
