Whilst waiting for glue to dry I have sprayed the chassis of the engine Decided on a Black Satin finish as I think this will look better with the other colours rather than a flat black GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

I have been using that video too Gil for reference.I am almost ready to start painting the cab.I think I will use my games workshop paints so I can brush paint the interior. The paint reference calls for a light green. I am going to try to match that.

Been a bit sidetracked on this build. I liked (so have "borrowed") your idea of a trestle to act as a display stand for this Engine. Found a reference to a "Typical Rio Grande Southern Trestle" and have used that for a template. Had some bits of wood laying around in the garage so have constructed my trestle. Will post a picture shortly. Not to sure on the suggested green for the Cab so may go a bit darker and I will also brush paint this. Gil, this website has everything you need on building a trestle bridges including supplies www.blackbearcc.comThe building jigs are very expensive.I am going to build one bent and then make a mold and cast in resin to make my own jig.Way cheaper. Carl

The Trestle is just about complete only now need to decide on the colour. What is the best way to "age" the wood ? Its size is governed by the size of the model and the space I am going to display it. The bridge is 36" long and 7" to the top of the rails. I used the plans I posted earlier as a guide plus looking on the web and the various pictures of trestle bridges. Rather than buy a kit this build is made from wood I had in my garage. The only thing I had to buy was the track. I assumed this would be 00 gauge but no, it is G gauge Now I can get on with the actual model GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Wow, brilliant job on the trestle. What a wonderful way of showing off the model. Great stuff. If the trestle looks this good the Jupiter will look even better. Having completed the Trestle Bridge I have now returned to the actual Jupiter Build Attached is the chassis so far. Fitting the wheels to the axles was "fun" . The suggested method of a small hammer did not work for me and I will have some repair work to do to the paint. In the end I used one of the many clamps I have accumulated. The one I chose has plastic jaws which are quite large and I was therefore able to apply a steady pressure and ease the wheels on gradually. The clamp also has a racket which would normally allow the clamp to hold two items together without slipping. I was able to use this to gradually reduce the distance between the wheels until required size was reached. 1st of no doubt several cock-ups. There are two types of drive wheels. the front drive wheels have a counter weight the rear do not and yes you guessed it, I mixed them up. In order to remove the wheels I had to construct a mini puller so that I could remove the wheels without breaking them (They are a tight fit) One of the advantages of being a senior citizen and keen D.I.Yer/Modeller is that you accumulate a lot of "bits and pieces" that you store because "they might be useful later" so I was able to cobble together a Heath Robinson device The Boiler is next. Have already constructed the wooden parts and am now moving on to the metal covers More later as the build proceeds GilShapley attached the following image(s): Current Build:- [color=blue]Stash Avro Lancaster (Full Kit)plus some extra issues I picked up at a good price [color=blue]Built:- Norman Catapult by Mantua,Roman Catapult by Mantua,HMS Victory,HMS Victory XSection,Focker DB1,Bismark,English Carronade Titanic Lifeboat,American Civil War Gatling,Hummer,Sopwith Camel F1,Occre Jupiter ,OcCre Wagon, Latina Arab Dhow, Eaglemass Orrery OcCre Rogers 119 [color=red][color=red]RB7,OcCre Missippi River Boat, Model Airways Fokker DR1 OcCre London L>C>C 106 Ugears Scrambler, Ugears Hexapod Explorer UGears Off-Road Vehicle

Wow you are really steaming ahead Gil!! Those wheels are fun aren't they.
I am just starting polishing the wheels.I was waiting on my piece of g scale track to arrive so I could get the wheel spacing right.
