Many of the parts are extremely small and difficult to work with. The detail is amazing, but at some point you have to realize that some stuff may not be seen very well. The levers for the control stack for instance, a complete )#*!!*$@ to put together and build! :)

I love fiddly bits :-)
Going on holidays on Friday, maybe it will be released in UK by the time I'm back?

For now I'm just sitting here and staring, green with envy.

Happy building :-)

As of tonight I've officially finished build pack #1.. I chose not to paint the prop, why they only give you one is beyond me; I'll wait for the 2nd one before I start working on them...if I'm going to get all the colors mixed and ready to paint I'll do both at the same time.

Few points here, first the acetate windows are very nice but the instruction manual does not tell you there is a protective layer on them. So I actually used the windows opposite of where they were supposed to go, and when they were all in place I peeled off the protective layer.

The fire extinguisher aluminium bands were one of those fiddly bits, probably the worst part of the build actually. I almost gave up and just glued it w/out the bands on them.

The metal used for the windscreen and a few other parts is too thick. Bending them precisely, or heck, even cutting them out of the tree is a challenge with out damaging them. Sadly there is no room in the tree for a cutting tool, I will have to invest in a very very small cutter if the remaining kits continue to use such thick metal.

The cockpit shows a detail painted between the upper control panel on the cockpit roof, this is not molded into the part nor is there any part or instructions showing what should go there.

Also after all this work building the cockpit I though it was rather foolish that the instructions would tell you to glue the roof of the cockpit on!! There will be magnets holding the entire nose section to the fuselage, some sort of magnet system should have been devised to to hold this part on as well. I want to be able to open it up and look at my hard work, so I will never glue this - and will look to modify things appropriately so that it can be detached.

With that said, I'm very happy with the kit, please take my comments as constructive, I'm pointing out just some minor improvements that can be done to the kit. I'm waiting on pack #2 and will start that a few days after it arrives. Until then, happy modeling!!

Another great update Cool

With regards to the window, were you trying to use a cutter to cut this out?

I have used thick photo etch on a previous build and found that it cuts out fine using the same method as normal brass photo etch albeit with a little more effort. The method used was to place the part on a flat hard surface, like am bit of glass, ceramic tile or I use a small square of Perspex and then cut using a scalpel blade. With the thicker parts it just required 'rocking' the blade back and forth until cut through Cool

Fantastic detail work Cool ,the thing that puts me off these partwork aeroplanes (apart from huge cost compared to plastic) is that most of the hard work and detail is covered up and will never be seen which is a real shame.

I was using an X-acto blade and it couln't get through it. Its super thick, to be exact, its .3mm thick. Doesn't sound like much, but it won't cut easily. Also its not brass and it is super hard and tough. With a scrap piece in two pliers it took nearly 15-20 flexes back and forth to get a 2.5mm piece to break. Its like hardened steel!!

I also use a model train track cutter, and that actually didn't work, the steel actually made the edges of the pliers separate instead of cut.
