I think you'll find that you use the sharp side of the blade for bending planks, but you remove the pad that the blade lands on. With the pad in you can use it for cutting planks. I have a photo, if I can work out how to upload it Mark attached the following image(s):

Certainly not the case with the bender I have, in fact if the strike pad is removed the blade does not even reach to the other side be it the blunt or sharp side, therefore with the benders I have, the pad has to be in place and the blade swopped round depending on need, if I recall rightly my benders are Amati not Artesania, which also have a set of additional shaped strike pads, but regarding the bender with the tool set your right.

I have been away for some time and have got a bit behind every one else. However trying to get back on course, I have started the planking , on 4 th row but I have managed to snap one of the planks, is there any spare planking supplied. I will probably be able to use the broken ones later when a shorter piece is required. If I do manage to break more which I probably will is there any suppliers that anyone may recommend.

I've been using them to bend with the pad in so that the planks don't get damaged..oh dear,in the words of one of the great Dick Emerys characters"Dad,dad,I done it wrong again dad!" Rob Nolli Illigitimi Carborundum!!!Current Builds: HMS Victory, SV Thermopylae
