My nerves were wearing a bit thin, so while the Victory soaked I went ahead a built up my courage with a few sips of Kentucky Bourbon. Sorry, no pics.

After a 30 minute bath, I pulled the Victory who was now nice and clean from the tub and remounted her to the level board. Still 1mm out of alignment, so I used some scraps of planking and some .41mm wire and pulled the Victory into shape, tying the wire off to screws on the leveling board. When all was said and done the Victory was in near perfect shape. The pic is from the stern, the bow is level and the stern is juuuuuuuuuust slightly out of level...good enough for me. There were a few victims of the effort, but these can be easily reattached once the Victory has dried in her new, perfect form. genone69 attached the following image(s):

Wow that was brave but it seems to have payed off well done  hopefully the foremast and mizzenmast will line up if not they can be adjusted by filing out the holes a little bit Looking forward to the next update Rgd Martyn Building ?

Hi Troy, think soaking in the bath was an exceptionally brave thing to do but great to see things look to be working out for you, certainly a braver man than I am...  . Keep checking the alignment as time goes on just to ensure the old girl doesn't slowly return to her previous state as she dries out fully. Keep up the good work, will be following your progress all the way. Should you need further guidance then simply shout and someone will answer. Good luck with her..... Regards Alan

Brave or stupid...it's a fine line. I resisted the urge to check on it this morning in case something was wrong and I wouldn't have the time to do anything about except worry until I got home from work. Instead, went with the tried and true 'out of sight, out of mind'. Go home and first thing I did was run to the workbench and check up on the progress.
So far, so good. She appears to be completely dry and still in perfect alignment. No additionally planking sprang off and on further inspection I could not find any other side effects. However, I did not release her from the leveling board and chose instead to let her dry completely until this Saturday. At that point I think I will check level again and if all is still good, and I think it will be, then I will continue planking the hull.
However I will keep her on the board as long as I can in the hopes that the new courses of planking will strengthen her new figure. I will be back at it Saturday and will update everyone. Again, thank you to all for all the excellent advice and encouragement.

Wow. You are so brave mate. I couldnt have done that. But so glad it turned out good. My san francisco has a slight warp to it that I didn't notice ( was my first wooden ship). You cant tell now unless you eyeball it properly. Onwards and upwards as they say. Look forward to your latest update. Chris. Hi Troy Well done on getting her straight again ,one thing I would recommend is to replank as much as you can whilst she is in the dry dock this should keep the hull as straight as posible. So the bath and dry dock did pull the Victory into the proper shape, but it wasn't without consequences. I did have a few planks come loose during the soaking and bending process and thought that may be the worst of it. However, as the drying continued throughout the next couple days gaps began to appear in areas where there weren't ones before. On the port side, these gaps were so extreme and disjointed that there was no choice but to remove all the planking. It was dreadful. Really dreadful. So it's a good thing that I really enjoy the planking process. However, now I will need more planking. Anyone suggestions on a good supplier? I have lots of extra planking that came with the packs, but I am sure it won't be enough. At least I can get started on re-planking while waiting for the new boards to arrive. Also, this time around the Victory will be confined to a secure dry dock while I plank and I will be sure to check alignment down the center line very, very, very often.

Hi Troy, unfortunately there is always the danger of something like this happening, gaps appearing and strips coming away as she fully dries out. On the positive side you are now in a position to be able to ensure your hull is straight and true, and I'm sure you'll look back on this and think the effort was all worth while, plus you'll have gained valuable experience. . You should also be able to use a good proportion of the planks that came away.  Regards Alan

So I have completed the first 6 courses on the port side and I must say I am getting better at this. I will be painting the Victory as I had no misconceptions on planking a hull in a fashion worthy of stain. Also, I really like to color palette of the Victory. Redoing the planking has been a good experience and it is going smoother. Plank bending and shaping is not as daunting as it was the first time around.
Super Bowl sucked up half the weekend so I didn't get much more done. It's a busy week, so Victory has to be put up until Friday. Hopefully I will be able to complete the top half of the hill next weekend.
